This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well hey there mommadooo! How ya doin’? Haven’t heard from you in a while!
http://beta.abc3340.com/weather/
Looks like you may get a few inches, but I'm probably not going to get nuthin.
Hey there stranger! Good to hear from you again! How ya been doing and whatcha been up to?
We moved back to the land after the insurance co. finally settled the house fire. And we just now could get the 'luxuries'.(internet) It's been rough, in lots of ways.
Life has thrown lots of stuff at this little family. But, LOL, we're still standing. Maybe a little ' gimpily', yet still standing. PTL!
Well I knew it had been a long time. I think it was 2005 when we last spoke. I’m glad that you got back to your place. I knew that y’all were planning on kinda “camping out” for a while, whilst you rebuilt the house. How long did that actually take?
We haven't rebuilt. Guy up the road gave us 2 mobile homes and dragged them up for us. But I SURE LOVED the camping out business!!! There's NOTHING like being woken up in the middle of the night by deer who wander through and do their 'huffing' noises. LOL. It's awesome.
Anyway, Mark tore down the back 1/2 of the burnt house and that's where the trailers are sitting. The front 1/2 is used as storage.(seasonal clothes, saddles, etc)
In the next few days we'll be getting the water turned on.(we've been hauling it in) Ticks me off, STILL, that we'll have to pay a $400 water bill from when the water ran while the house was burning. You'd THINK they would cut ya some slack when they knew you lost 18 years of your life, but.....
I think if you ask them they’ll write off 1/2 of a big water bill like that. Somebody else I knew had a leak in their water line and had a huge bill and they did that for them. Seems like they’ll do that for you once every 2 years or so. At least that’s what they do around here. Maybe yours will too.
I went back in the thread and looked at the “before” pics you posted of your place and it sure is pretty. I don’t blame you for wanting to move back there, even if you have to rough it. Did they ever catch the people who burned it?
No, ‘they’ didn’t catch them. But we know who did it. One of them was bragging about it at his school. AND my kids’ school nurse told me who BOTH of them were. I just don’t know what to do with the info.
It's common knowledge in TWO communities.
That's OK. My rifle is within finger tip reach AND ALWAYS LOADED!!!
So how many critters do you have these days? I’m down to 8 horses, but up to 6 cats.
Hay is hard to get around here:(
Six puppies named Outta Here or Targets.
Ooooo, babies!! How fun! It’s been a couple of years since I’ve had any. Had to quit for a while coz they were eating me out of house and home, so I know whatcha mean about the hay. The drought hit us pretty hard around here for the last coupla years too. I managed to get enough to get me by at $50 a roll back in the summer, but it’s going for $65-$75 if you have to buy it now. OUCH! And feed just keeps going up too, along with fuel. Makes my horse habit more expensive all the time.
Beaker... you're better at those cat captions... All I can think of is "I ownz ur whitez" or "All ur socks r belong to me!" ;~)
Hi mommadooo! Good seeing you! Glad to hear you’re OK.
We’ll I’ve bought the milk anyway. We are not big consumers of bread, so I’m set. I’ll make soup, I guess.
Mack and I are home from the hospital...I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful it is to be home.
I believe Mack is happy to be here too. He has been more peaceful since we got home then he has ever been in the hospital...
This is very hard to tell...but Mack will not be with me for many more days. The cancer is just to advanced, nothing has really worked. He is pretty much being kept on morphine and adavan all the time, to keep him comfortable. We will have hospice coming out every day to help monitor his meds, and vitals, and assist in whatever. He should finally be at peace within the week.
To the old NES people I’ve pinged, I just thought you may want to know. Mack was diagnosed with stomach cancer the week before Christmas, it had spread to his liver and caused some heart damage also. He has been in the hospital for the last 3 weeks.

I am so very, very sorry for you and the kids. I’ll be praying for all of you - give Mack a hug from me.
Becky, ...ah Becky, I’m so sorry to hear that but am glad he is comfortable and at home. If you need anything just ask. We are here for you.
