This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
ROFLMOA! I would buy a ticket to watch that!
That’s the problem, I don’t know what the options are. Right now, I’m getting news third and fourth hand so I don’t know what they are doing or going to do, just that she’s still at the hospital while they explore what they can do :(
The new horse is an 11 year old former jumper who does’t jump anymore and the owner wants another horse. She is giving him to me. I spoke with the vet and the farrier and there is really nothing wrong with him that a little exercise wouldn’t fix. I guess the owner has more money than she knows what to do with and only rides him about once a month. Her husband said she couldn't’t get a new horse until she got rid of this one....so I get a free companion for Waylon.....should be interesting. He's a paint and not gaited
I will take some pictures on Friday and post them , if I remember how.....I'll try to get some out on the trail too.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE
If I can swing it, I am not going to work...don’t know how that will turn out. Will keep you posted. At any rate, I won’t do anything until after the first of the yr anyhow.
I turned 62 last Sunday so I could take early SS....don’t know yet what I’ll do.
Happy belated birthday :)
As some of you know, I've been having some personal problems. Well tonight I guess I go to lurker mode. I am horseless. I sold Sarah Lee in July to keep Okie. Today I gave him away. I'm a little down but it was for the best. If it's ok with yall I would like to stay on the ping list and drop in occasionally when I have horse news though.
It feels weird. I can only remember a short time when I was a kid that I had no animals around. Oh well....
I sure hope you stay around. You’re my hero :) I keep thinking one of these days I’ll quit and start a business (if I get the courage that is)
I’m sorry you’ve *lost* the horses but I always thought to myself how difficult it must be, trying to board them and find the time to spend with them. I figure one of these days you’ll get your acreage and can start again.
I wanted to tell you about Sarah Lee though. She has a new name. "loon" She doesn't let anyone ride her. She's just going to spend her days making babies and eating grass. She wanted no part of school horsing.
I’m sorry about the horses. Is it someone at the barn you boarded him at that has him now?
You don’t have to have a horse to post here, at least I don’t think you do...heck, how often do we even talk about horses now-a-days. Please be more then a lurker:)
Becky
Duchess, I’m so sorry to hear about Lori. She’ll be in my prayers.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
We’ll be heading up to the beach house around late morning. :~)
Hi CindyDawg... sorry about you being horseless for now, please do stick around.
Hard to remember everyone, but to all
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Very cold here today...we have ice on the water troughs:(, windy too:(, altho the sun is shining nicely. It really blew yesterday, and I noticed all the trees out back have all lost all their leaves, but the leaves that were in the garden and on the patio have all been blown away.
We may have ice on the water troughs too. I know it’s frozen out in the pasture, just a little warmer here under the trees.
Harley’s was ICE, Rocky’s was just slushy.
Becky
So what do you do? Pull the ice off or pour hot water on it?
I just bust it up, banging on it with the feed bucket, when it’s like it is today..maybe 1/4 inch thick. I leave the pieces floating, the sun is shining, so they will melt fairly quick. When the ice is really thick and has to be broke with the ax, I scoop out the pieces with the muck rake.
I have a heater for Rocky’s trough that I will get out today and put in his trough. His trough is big enough that I can then dip out of it to give Harley a drink.
Becky
