The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XXXXI
Poets of the Dragonflies' Lair | August 9, 2007 | Soaring Feather

Posted on 08/06/2007 3:44:50 AM PDT by Soaring Feather

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Good morning Soaring Feather. Hope that this day finds you at full health. Things here are still a little busy but should start to slow down a little next week. I miss not being here on a regular basis.

Thank you very much for the kind words, Happy to hear that you are getting stronger. I think I remember the thermometer reading 93 yesterday. It just seems that when the weather gets hot the amount of traffic increases and when it rains drivers seem to think that they are at Le Mans. Sorry that I am just getting around to reading all of the fine input from you and the Lairites. All good things.

Glad you can catch you breath for a few moments!

I can’t imagine such traffic as you have, we are a small town, but having two colleges based here the population doubles this time of year. Ugh. Of course, they are the engines that drive everything here, so we have to take the inconvenience with the positive side of things.

We have a group of fine talented people who choose to come to the Lair and that makes me very happy. ;)

I can depend on you WJ to weave a dream weaver’s wish.

I hope to get my muse in jump start mode soon. Being ill just drains all creativity out of one’s reserves.

Looking forward to the magic whisper of the muse.

August

  When my eyes are weeds,
And my lips are petals, spinning
Down the wind that has beginning
Where the crumpled beeches start
In a fringe of salty reeds;
When my arms are elder-bushes,
And the rangy lilac pushes
Upward, upward through my heart;

Summer, do your worst!
Light your tinsel moon, and call on
Your performing stars to fall on
Headlong through your paper sky;
Nevermore shall I be cursed
By a flushed and amorous slattern,
With her dusty laces' pattern
Trailing, as she straggles by.

Fabulous, Lady, just fabulous! Trust you are rested this day.

I think August is a great month, it’s moon when it is not covered by clouds is enticing, the gradual dieing down and turning brown of the fern - quietly preparing for Fall.
Ah, her magic songs and abundant crops and we humans hustle and bustle around her skirts while she smiles her autumanal smile.

Looks like it’s going to take more than one nap and a good night’s sleep because I’m still dragging today. I could go right back to bed.

In a little while I’m heading out to a preplanned lunch. It should be relaxing. Pollen and humidity are still high and, as a result, breathing problems aren’t being helped by all the Rx, so though the get together will be fun, getting home to the a/c will be wonderful.

That’ll be the end of a busy week for me and then I’ll recuperate. LOL!

What’s your day like? Are you expecting hot weather? If you have weather like here now, I imagine your wellbeing is status quo?

I know how you feel!

I remember one time when I was up all night, wondering where the sun went to....

...then, in the morning, it dawned on me....

Ah, well, resting up from a trip takes a bit of time. Enjoy you get together this afternoon.

Weather here is a great warming trend with the usual high humidity. I don’t have the a/c running yet as the house takes a couple of days to warm after the cool damp weather we’ve had all week. Damn glad to see the gloom pass. We may have some showers in store for the day, alas just have to let her come, and we were here first anyway! LOL

You got the heat before we did. I’m still not up on the forecast details. Last I heard we’re in for a hot weekend.

No, I'm pretty far away from any rivers that are flooding.

Bad feature is, with all the rain everyday, my grass is too wet to cut, & it's growing like krazy!
