I am too ignorant of Linux to try a beta anything. Kubuntu [feisty] and I get along very well, though. [Forums are my fallback.]

A clue about what a “KDE” might be would be nice.

Question for the computer wonks in FR:
What's the difference between "KD" and "Linux"?

Thank you for that boot in the pants. It’s early in the morning and I was criticizing the poster.

ehh, that’s ok.

Just mess with it when the official is released this october.(the scheduling could change)

Just because you *can* beta test doesn’t mean you have to.

KDE is the desktop environment. that’s what you see and what you interface with, move your mouse, click the menu, stuff like that.

“Linux” is the kernel, the brain or heart if you will. You don’t interface with it, that’s the ‘under the hood’ stuff.

A clue about what a “KDE” might be would be nice.

Everything a windows desktop would be if the end user designed it.

Linux has two main desktop interfaces, gnome an kde (there are others). Gnome is popular with Ubuntu and comes standard on Red Hat. KDE is SUSE, MEPIS and some others. KDE is very user friendly

BSD a UNIX derivative runs KDE also....

PC_BSD Beta 4 runs Beryl nicely...

Another desktop variant is Gnome and there are others XCFE is one such that seems to be popular among some of the “lighter” distros....

Dear, you are running KDE in Kubuntu. Ubuntu runs the Gnome desktop, KUbuntu runs KDE with the Ubuntu Linux Distribution.

You'll probably get it when you upgrade, after it comes out of beta.

i'll have to wait for the next SuSE enterprise Linux Desktop service pack to come out before i can upgrade to it.
