Last season was a body blow for all the Big East detractors who felt the league had no business getting a highly-coveted automatic BCS bowl berth. Almost half of the conferences members finished the season ranked in the top 12 and it left a lasting off-season impression with a 5-0 bowl record. With the returns of Heisman contenders Brian Brohm, Steve Slaton, Pat White and Ray Rice, prepare for an encore performance.
Forget all the talk about the demise of the Big East. Its over, as long as no more schools bolt for greener pastures. The league has two budding national powers in West Virginia and Louisville, two programsRutgers and South Floridawith enormous upsides, a second division thatll be more competitive and a wicked head of steam.
The Mountaineers and Cardinals are once again the heavy favorites to win the league and contend as trendy picks to be the fly in the national title game ointment. While both offenses will be unstoppable, the development of their defenses will determine just how far they go.

...right, and I'll also ask Florida and S.C. about the Sugar and Carquest Bowls.
Oh believe me, I’m getting myself prepared for the SEC Preview. I mentioned to dfwgator in the Big XII preview thread that this could have undead thread potential...we’re not quite as keen on this sort of thing out West, I suppose.
Your Family photo again? ;^) I’m still laughing at your comment from yesterday
will the person who left the lights on in their tractor please go out to the parking lot... ; )
Lemme guess......VT?
NO! i thought you’d guess for sure, as the announcer who said that at a WVU- ____ game was fired for it, if i am not mistaken... one more guess....
besides, VT is as much farmland as WV is!
The ‘Cuse is a shadow of its former glory as a football progeram..it’s a shame...And look for Ruters to jump to the Big Ten, and play their home games at the new Jets/Giants stadium..

I second the motion to post the SEC preview. 29 days until kickoff and 31 until my team takes the field!

enough about the ‘cuse already! ; ) my hub is a rabid SU fan, he isn’t looking forward to football season this year....
I’ve only gotten into college football since I moved to WV five years ago, (and even at that, I’m more a WVU fan than a college football fan) so I’m sorely lacking in the history dept.
...gotta plead ignorance :(
By VT I meant Virginia Tech, not Vermont.
Mountaineers have to have senses of humor! and everytime we see someone with WV plates on the road my hub and i mention how there are so many couches to burn and so little time... : ) He graduated from SU and i graduated from Pitt, so we have a bit of Big East rivalry at home.
8 months later LSU is still scoring TD's on the Gold Domers.
i knew that and i have been down to VaTech and it is farmland as well, in Central VA!
