Bill O'Reilly Slams Freerepublic

Posted on 07/29/2007 3:49:13 PM PDT by WyCoKsRepublican

I recently tuned in to the Radio Factor to hear Bill O'Reilly saying that he was hated by Freerepublic and that it was an extreme right wing blog. First of all, Mr. O'Reilly is not hated. I have a lot of respect for the man, his honesty, integrity and point of view. What I don't like, as do many Freepers, is that when he is on target on some key issues, he is way off target on others. He needs to realize that we even disagree amongst ourselves quite often. I get my daily dose of talk radio, Rush, Dr. Savage, Boortz, Levin and O'Reilly. Why does he always have to thrash a conservative i.e. Ann Coulter in the same breath when he's zapping a liberal? Let's just say that when some of us disagree with him, he needs to be "de-spun" on occasion. It's called "tough love" Mr. O'Reilly. The Great Oz has spoken.

I would say to Mr. O’Reilly that the Freepers I’ve met personally are just about as “mainstream, traditional and patriotic” as any American can be. Yes, we are conservatives and proud to admit it. We don’t compromise our principals. We take abuse all the time, but we rise above it all. And another thing, Mr. O’Reilly, why are you so afraid to debate Dr. Michael Savage? I think the answer is obvious. You tag him as being extreme. Truth is the bout wouldn’t go 1 round.

And yet you'd be hard-pressed to nail down just which issues that tick off the folks at FR because frankly there are some issues that the FR folks are as also all over the map.

To put it a different way, no matter what is reported that O'Reilly says on any thread, he has detractors whether he's "on target" (IMO) or not. Opinions vary. Even the people criticizing him vary from thread to thread. (Except for a few that find their way into every thread.)

Exactly!

I signed up at FR (after lurking for a time) because of Hannity saying that FReepers didn’t like him, either. Never regretted it!!

As for BO’R—

Now that's the most ridiculous item of the day.

“Why didn’t they take control many years ago from the socialists in the party?”

They aren’t Socialists. They are criminals who used the Republican label. When it was a choice between siding with the RATS or being “Lotted”, they chose the side of the RATS.

The Conservatives could have taken over the party on the day the immigration bill failed. It was ours for the taking. I have the same question. Why don’t we take over the party?

It is clear the RNC does not speak for America. It speaks for their own self interests.

We disagree with what we feel are some idiotic things some conservatives have done. But we don't make it personal and we're not full of rage and hate. We're different from DU. I doubt Bill O'Reilly has ever been around Free Republic. On the whole, conservatism is a fundamentally healthy and progressive movement with an optimistic view of the future. That's more than can be said for the opposite side.

As I said in my opening comments of this post, Bill O’Reilly feels that FR hates him. This post was instigated by his comments on his radio show and I felt the topic should be open to discussion. I tire of hearing about his extenstive teaching career (correct me if I’m wrong or was it just a couple of years?) Furthermore, I had a paper route as a kid. Need I hear over and over about Mr. O’Reilly’s summer job painting houses to earn college bucks? Does he really know who the mainstream includes? He could learn a lot by hanging with us.

O'Reilly Condemns Right Wing Site, FreeRepublic.com*

"..Bill said he never heard of Free Republic (home of the Freepers), one of the largest right wing blogs on the Net since the mid-nineties. Bill had his sidekick, Lise Weihl go to the web site and after a good commercial-long minute of research found nothing out of hand..."

Thanks to those who responded to this post. On a closing note, I would like to say the following. Bill O’Reilly is a sharp guy. He’s done well with his God given talents, and he’s experienced the American Dream. He has a Harvard degree, but is no match to Rush Limbaugh who with limited formal education has a greater command of the English language and historical perspective than Mr. O’Reilly could ever have. I sense a lot of professional envy and I feel the same about Dr. Michael Savage in regard to the hits he takes on occasion from Bill O’Reilly. Dr. Savage is admired, respected, appreciated and loved by more than he knows.

They aren’t Socialists.

Call them what you will but when I see the leader of the GOP,George Bush, willing to risk our national security by siding with flaming socialist Ted Kennedy on a bill that will grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, any number of which could be terrorists, to further his goal of a North American Union I can't help but think he is a socialist.

When I see GOP presidential candidates John McCain, Rudi Guiliani agree with Socialist Democrats on many issues there is no other way to view them but as socialists. When I see a prominent GOP leader Arlen Specter trying to once again foist amnesty for illegals on the American people knowing full well it endangers our country and goes against the will of a majority of Americans I can't help think it smacks of Socialism. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

The GOP party has abandoned Conservative principles in favor of Socialism. The Republican party has been and is continuing to align it's ideology with the Socialist Democrats. We have essentially a one party system. The sooner Conservatives in the party accept these facts and respond by leaving the GOP and uniting with the large number of unaffiliated Conservatives the better chance we stand to restore the two party system.

As I said in my opening comments of this post, Bill O’Reilly feels that FR hates him

I don't hate him, I pity him ; he is about as dumb as a box of rocks.

His researchers fail him as well.

But he is definitely a popinjay; as well as a supercilious vaunter.

His ongoing support of Jerry Rivers and Wendy Murphy
demonstrate his general vapid lack of discernment.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't hate BO'R.

He's entertaining, in his own way.

But IMO, he panders to the left in an effort to appear "fair and balanced", which gives him the appearance of being wishy-washy.

If you're reading this Mr. O'Reilly, hears a suggestion.

Don't take what you read here so personally.

Unlike the haters over at Democratic Underground, we don't wish for your demise.
