You are so right. The RAT real scandals and all their investigations without their doing any work in congress.
I clicked on your link. I really like that clock.

That clock is depressing -- Sept and Oct don't look very far away at all, certainly don't look MONTHS away...;-))
(BTW -- how do it know how to display the correct time zone, since it's from the Netherlands?)

In re: Republicans with heads in sand...
The only thing that is good about this election cycle is that there is nobody on the R's side this time for whom it is 'his turn' a la Bob Dole (that was excruciatingly painful to watch)...that and the fact that people like Rudy and Fred are standing up this time.
On the downside, Lindsay Grahamnesty and Arlen 'I think it's perjury' Specter will keep generating negative R news all along...
And don't forget Newt!!! I think he might have something planned that might break things open (and I mean not as a candidate per se but something to stir the debates and to whack the Dems with it)...;-))
(Sorry to be so long-winded -- just woke up and all...;-))

AND I killed the thread!!! WooHoo!!!!

>>And don’t forget Newt!!!
That’s my choice (except for when he cuddled up to Hillary and health care - what was he thinking ?? )

Good Morning!
Like politicians' promises, the weatherman's of rain, including today, in my neck of the woods have NOT materialized. (sigh)
Bit, IMO Newt is an opportunistic hasbeen who yearns for a spotlight....where else? but on himself. Making derogatory statements about Republicans gets him media attention.
Another delightful breakfast, lysie! (You're working your fingers to the bone in the ATRW kitchen. LOL)

Actually, I like the ‘slide rule’ clock better!
To: Carolinamom
Yep, easy to see Newtie that way, mainly because he has that smarmy, carnival-barker side to him...and don't forget how badly he crashed and burned in that 'debate' on global warming with Kerry...
But I can't help imagining Newt as SecState...if Colin Powell and Maddie NotBright can be in that job, certainly Newt would shine -- IF he can stay on message and doesn't try to out-do libs on expansive gov't programs (the REAL downfall of the R;s during W's presidency, IMO)...;-))

Good Morning from rainy Oregon...Not complaining :-) we need the moisture.
I haven't been to FR in AGES! I have an excellent excuse. I have been working 11 hour days while we try to train a front office person at the Clinic.
For some reason, the powers that be, continue to hire the wrong people for the position. It requires someone who can multitask and not get flustered. The latest person they hired simply can NOT do more than one simple thing at a time. Unless a miracle happens, the days of my leisurely volunteer hours are past :-(
Granddaughter Krissy and her friend Erin have been with me for the past week. They flew back to SF yesterday. WOW!!! Two teenagers in the house was electrifying!! Andy and Charlie have pretty much been asleep since they left. Lysie...when you called the other day, they were dashing inside and out and kept calling me to come look at something. I was trying to talk to you and shut out the sound of them yelling for me :-( They discovered they could throw tiny rocks from the deck toward the river and bats would swoop at them. Much squealing and laughter!!!
Toby...I love the name "Clark Gobble"!!!
Now, I must get busy around here. Hopefully, I can check the thread off and on during the day.

IMO Newt is an idea man and best suited for a college professorship or a think tank. There, some of his wacky ideas and propensity for seeking the spotlight would not cause as much potential harm as if he were in a cabinet position.
BTW have you read the article about Hillary's letters written in her HS and college years? Even then, she saw herself as the center of the universe.

Probably true about Newt -- but then how do you explain Contract With America and the '94 Revolution? Those were the days of Dole and Bob Michel....Oh well, I am sure Newt will implode sooner or later, but I want him to elevate the discussion on the R side at some point...
And YES, I have read some of Hitlery!'s 'works' from her former days, including bits of her Ode to Saul Alinsky of a Commencement Address...and did you know that she always just *knew* she would be at the top of the heap some day and she evaluated Bill on what he could do for *her*??? HA!

Also in re: R's heads in sand:
Lest anyone be tempted to admonish people that the R's are 'misunderstood' and that we only need 'stay the course' and that 'everything will be fine':
The R's while in power presided over 1 TRILLION DOLLARS in NEW SPENDING in JUST FIVE YEARS, on top of an already bloated 1.9 Trillion-dollar budget...think about that for bit...and most of the R's, particularly the heads-up-rectums Senators think that the whistleblowers on pork were the reason for the bloodbath in the last election...
Pennsylvania's budget is a paltry $27 Billion...just the increase in spending would fund PA for...37 YEARS!!! But get this:
We could fund SEVEN NEW CALIFORNIAS -- AND COVER THE BUDGET GAP THEY WERE FIGHTING OVER -- WITH JUST THE INCREASE IN THE FEDERAL BUDGET!!!
(And note to RNC: This should put to rest the theory that medical professionals are well-suited to leading a legislative body -- about the same result as letting Tom DeLay perform bypass surgery...)
And this is the most depressing: The D-controlled congress just passed the LOWEST budget in five years, and they will make hay with that stat..
So this is what lies beyond the 'How would you protect the Homeland?' debate questions and I hope Rudy has some answers...;-))
To: Bitwhacker
details, details...the devil is in the details;)).
Points taken, Bit.
