We joined Netflix way back in 2000, and have really enjoyed it. We've found some real quirky movies just scrolling through the suggestions. One of our favorites is The Station Agent. It's fairly recent, but I'd never heard of it until I was looking for something else and happened upon it.

Catholic = Cult?

Really??? I always found most of the protestant branches seem to just make it up as they go along.....

Only a cult could read “lying with a man as one lies with a woman is an abomination” and conclude, hey, God sanctifies homosexual “marriage”.

Warning: Spoiler if one is planning on seeing movie.

No - you have it wrong. I just saw the movie the other day with my niece. I loved it - but then again, I like animals and got a kick out of the animal scenes....

The “flood” is a lake that floods a huge upper scale housing development, after developers have cut corners and make a manmade lake that is doomed to fail.

Actually, I think this year is going to be a record for Hollyweird: Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Spiderman 3, Harry Potter, etc.

If they didn’t make record profits this year, they’re doomed.

Best comment I read on this said it would be like Hollywood making a movie with white actors in black-face, then puzzling over why blacks didn’t pour out to see it.

Or black actors in black-face

>>View it as entertainment, and you’ll be fine, think of it purely from a religious view and you’ll probably vomit.<<

Exactly. If you view Mallrats from the point of entertainment, it’s one of the best! But all teenagers are not the characters in the film.

My husband, SirKit, took our kids to see Transformers. Our son was so excited to go see it, but came home disappointed; don't know what he was expecting. SirKit said I'd probably like it, so we'll get it from Netflix when it comes out. Right now, I'm waiting for Live Free or Die Hard to come to our favorite beer and burger theater!

Ah, c'mon, it wasn't THAT bad.
It wasn't a religous movie, just as Bruce Almighty wasn't a religous movie.
C'mon people, it was a COMEDY.

It did have a moral behind it, just as Bruce Almighty did.
It didn't preach that moral with every scene but it did get the message across, at least to me.

Just because you don't understand what G*d plans for you, that's no reason to try to get out of what G*d wants you to do.

When G*d has a specific task for you, he will let you know. When you try to get out of that specific task, G*d will always bring you back to it.

Didn't see that one, but Night of the Comet is one of my all time favorite movies!

The first time I saw Mallrats, I nearly wet myself.

It’s one of those movies where a joke in the first five minutes repeats suddenly right through to the end.

Beer and Burger theater?

A little town north and east of us has a movie theater downtown that was probably built in the late 40's or so. Now they show first run movies a few weeks after the debut, for $5 a head. They sell food and beverages, and they fitted the place out with tables between every couple of theater seats. They even have a few rows of seats that have one long table in front of them. They advertise the place to bring groups for birthday parties, etc, and you can feed the kids while they're watching the movie! Our kids really enjoy the place, and it's one of the few things here that I'll miss when we move South.

If past is prologue to the future, Hollywood may come out with Evan Almighty II next year. They just seem to remake everything.

I didn't see the movie. It looked like a stinker -- and choosing Morgan Freeman as God just seemed so uninspired and politically correct. Spare me such pap.

You are aware that this is a sequel to Bruce Almighty?

I haven't seen this one, but the first was a surprisingly respectful film about faith.

‘Gods and Generals is one fantastic movie.’

Its a great period piece to be sure, but I didn’t find it as compelling as Gettysburg. I wish it had done better at the box office, because the last of the triology, ‘The Last Full Measure’ would have been very enlightening to a public ignorant of what took place that last 18 months of the Civil War.

I also thought Sheen was much better as Lee than Duvall, but that might be just me.

I’m way out in the sticks of the Appalachian Zone, I wonder how ‘netflix’ would work out here. Usually, we just buy the DVD of whatever movie we want to see.

Come to think of it, we have several hundred DVD’s at this point....(chuckle)

Transformers is apparently having a good run.
