Binge-drinking 'causes drop in omega-3 levels'

Binge-drinking reduces levels of essential fatty acids which play crucial roles in concentration and memory, scientists have found.
Research shows that not only do heavy drinkers need to consume more omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs), but that their diets contain lower amounts of the important nutrients.
Omega-3 is broken down into the fatty acids which form the structure of brain cell membranes and carry electrical signals between brain cells.
Oily fish such as mackerel are a good source of omega-3, which has been shown to have a range of health benefits including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, as well as improved immune system functioning.
The American researchers questioned 4,168 adults on their alcohol intake and consumption of EFAs during a 24-hour period.
They found that those who drank the most had lower levels of EFAs in their bodies, especially among men.
Those few nights couldn’t have done much if anything to me.
That’s why sardines, or herring, go so well with beer!
On those nights I pound back 20 or 30 shots of tequila I forget to include an oily fish in my diet for my health (along with a lot of other things).

Another example of why I maintain a constant buzz.

Yep... that's why I like a little sushi with my Sapporo!
"Whaddaya mean, Omega-3!? I was looking for the Omega-13!"
I like it with Asahi.

LOL. I quit binge drinking back in 1989. Some say I'm not fully recovered. But, I do eat a lot of tuna. (Omega-3)
