(SUV On CSU Lot Flips)
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A driver doing "doughnuts" in a parking lot near the Colorado State University campus was killed Wednesday night when his vehicle flipped and crashed.
The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. in the parking lot of CSU's Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory.
A witness told the Fort Collins Coloradan that the driver pulled into the parking lot and then gunned the accelerator.
The driver was thrown from behind the wheel to the passenger side and then out the window, witnesses said. The vehicle flipped and partially rolled over the victim, a CSU spokesman said.
Three other people in the Ford Explorer were not hurt.
All of the occupants were in their late teens or early 20s. The victim has not been identified. Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
Amazing that someone would do this. In an SUV. Without a seatbelt.
Sounds like the kids was skipping class or he might have known how the energy conversion of his donuts would have upon his body once it left the vehicle.
An explorer is totally the wrong kind of car to do donuts in. What an idiot.
My ‘67 impala, now that was the donut machine. Best i ever did was 27 in a row, and I needed new tires very shortly after that. Ah, to be young and stupid again would be fun!
Gee, ya think they could have been a factor?
Hold muh beer and watch me go through the window.
Mama Told Me Not To Gun
Kids these days....
OK, so the driver flies out the passenger side window - over the top of his passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, and no one else was hurt - probably all wearing seat belts.
I’m not for “mandatory” anything - but this is a good advertisement for making a good choice voluntarily.
I “doing donuts” what I think it is?!!
Reading your post I was sure you were a 35 year old who went to high school with my husband. :-) They used to go out in a Judge and do donuts in the mall parking lot.
“Here. Hold mah beer!”
“I doing donuts what I think it is?!!”
And just WHAT do you think it is?
Snorting the powdered sugar off the top?
Probably one of the few rear wheel drive vehicles available these days. Or maybe the 4 wheel drive was engaged, explaining why the stunt didn't work so well. Don't donuts usually require a little snow or ice anyway, unless your dealing with a muscle car?
By Three Donut Night.
“Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role.”
I blame it on the driver for poor judgement and/or stupidity. Blaming it on drugs or alcohol only sets us up to lose more freedoms. Just the same as blaming homicides, etc on guns instead of the person responsible.
“Amazing that someone would do this. In an SUV. Without a seatbelt.”
Just think of it as a little chlorine in the gene pool.
LOL!!
Almost as good as exsanguination.
