I’m not going to check out the trailer; I don’t feel like being depressed the rest of the day. I only stopped by to complement you on your MAJOR UBER DUPER BARF ALERT.
Excellent!
Anything with Sarandon in it is bound to be anti-American cr*p. She used to be fun to watch (that film about the minor league team in Durham - can’t recall the name); now she’s just an old hag.
Directed by Leni Riefenstahl, produced by Joseph Goebbels, and written by Lord Haw Haw?
Haggis. Another satanic scientologist.
Main Entry: hag·gis
Pronunciation: 'ha-g&s
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English hagese :
a traditionally Scottish dish that consists of the heart, liver, and lungs of a sheep or a calf minced with suet, onions, oatmeal, and seasonings and boiled in the stomach of the animal
Bull Durham.
They got all of the America haters in the movie.
Yes. Thank you. Senior moment, here.
I looked at the preview, It did’nt look all that bad.
Paul Haggis’s a Scientologist?!
Oh yeah. Big time.
This movie is loosely based on the murder of my cousin Richard Davis. I am not anti-war. I just wish more attention would be given to soldiers when they returned from war.
Nenny2006 I am sorry for your cousin Spc. Richard Davis. I meant no offence. I had no idea that this film is loosely based on this tragic case. But having said that Paul haggis will still put his cliche views in that film. He will probably potray All US Army men as derange psychopaths. And that is why I am not happy about it.
Again sorry about your cousin Spc. Richard Davis
I listened to Michael Medveds review of it yesterday. Its an abomination and any Veteran should be outraged. None of the soldiers are seen in a positive light. One is nicknamed “Doc” because he gets a kick out of sticking his hands into insurgents wounds and saying “does this hurt?” He does this while the insurgents are screaming horribly. In one scene the driver of a Humvee speeds up to hit an Iraqi boy chasing a soccer ball, then after running over him he stops the vehicle, gets out and photographs the carnage he just made. In another scene a comment is made that suggest all the soldiers are doing drugs.
“This story needs to be BUMPED back to the top, now that we are approaching its release.

Good Lord WEv’e GOT ourselves another “PLatoon” here and to make things worst It’s not even directed by a Veteran!
It has now got a 63% rating on RottenTomatoas.com
Thank you for your condolences.
No offense taken. The movie is purely fiction and extremely loosely based on the actual events that happened to Richard Davis.
A foundation has been established to help soldiers when they return from war.
The movie In the Valley of Elah is set to release nationwide on September 21st. Please keep in mind that the movie is loosely based on what happened to Richard Davis.
Lanny and Remy Davis have set up a Foundation in honor of their son. The Richard Thomas Davis Foundation For Peace will work as an outreach program to help all military families whose son or daughter have made it home from the war only to turn up missing or murdered. At the present, military red tape makes it almost impossible for these families to get the help they desperately need.
In addition, the foundation will work to facilitate change for the individual soldiers. The issuance of moral waivers have increased dramatically, allowing even violent criminals with gang ties and prior mental health problems to enter into service. Richards death is a direct result of these low recruitment standards.
Although Richards murder was not the result of PTSD, the Foundation is not overlooking the need to help in this regard. As it stands now, asking for PTSD treatment has a stigma attached to it and therefore many soldiers are ashamed to ask, for fear of being viewed as weak. This stigma can be removed. If the military takes the proactive step of making PTSD counseling and training mandatory, the same as weapons training, it will only serve to make our soldiers stronger and more resilient in both body and mind.

Murder in Baker Company by Cilla McCain
Expected release December 2007 or January 2008
Although the movie “In The Valley of Elah” is fiction, it is a powerful film that will hopefully inspire the American people to not only seek the truth about the deceptions behind the Iraq War, but to be aware of the emotional issues our troops are dealing with. Although known by many names in the past, PTSD, as it’s now called, is more prevalent than at any other time in human history. We have to ask ourselves why? Seeking the answer to this very simple question should lead us to look at the overall problems associated with this particular war.
Lowering of recruitment standards, crime, gang violence, chaotic planning and war atrocities are at the heart of the increase in the number of PTSD cases being reported. These current conditions are prevalent in the Iraq war and spreading like a disease. Our honorable men and women are being exposed to it. We have to cure this disease, but in order to do so we must go after the disease itself, not just the symptoms it produces. PTSD is a symptom.
Violent criminals with gang ties and prior mental health problems were allowed to serve and they killed Richard Davis. The true circumstances of his murder involves every corrupt and evil mechanism behind this war. As the very first Baker Company soldier killed, his case should serve as a beacon for people who want to make things right and bring our troops home from this illegal war.
Richard’s murder inspired Paul Haggis to explore what this war is doing to our soldiers. From that exploration, In The Valley Of Elah was born. The details of Richard’s complex story were not available until three years after his death. But it will be revealed in the upcoming book by Cilla McCain, titled Murder in Baker Company. The importance of letting the country know the true story, is not lost on Elah producers Paul Haggis and Larry Becsey. They care very much about exposing this tragedy for what it is and have offered their help in creating a documentary based on McCain’s research. The planning is currently underway.
