Freepers help: Best free net resources for personal background checks, marriage info, etc.

Freepers, please help me out on this one. I have a friend who is romantically interested in someone who may not be telling the truth on several matters...whether he's married, has a criminal record, etc.

I know there are many sources out there (i.e., "scams") that charge a fee but give very little info.

I used to know of some terrific websites on which there was a ton of information for free but I can't seem to track them down at the moment.

PLEASE help. I don't want my friend to be duped. Intuition is great. Extra info is even better. Anyone know of some great resources? Please post links.

If your guy is located in California, you can get quite a bit of information from various public sources.

Some counties provide a search for names at their superior courts and you can see if they’ve been involved in any court cases, be it civil, criminal or family law. The counties where I know this information is to be had is San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange County. Other counties may also have this info available.

Some county recorders provide a search for names for property transactions. Orange County has this ability, I don’t know about other counties. Clark County, Nevada has a wonderful search for marriages, in case he ever got married in Las Vegas.

However, back to your original question, if you find some dirt on this guy, do you really think your friend is going to listen? Sometimes we just have to make our own mistakes.

Nevada has a wonderful search for marriages, in case he ever got married in Las Vegas.

Well, for instance, if I find dirt on a possible murderer...let's just say it's good to know...while trying to alert my friend :o)
