I call Hubby on HIS cell and tell him what to buy. :) He stops at Lowes on the way home from work and buys trellis’ for the garden and even bought me 2 Rose of Sharon. I like HIS cell as I get “pretties” on his way home.

I take mine with me when I leave the house. Or if I go up the hill to the garden. But Nextel/Sprint has been calling to "expand" my options. If I WANTED more, I'd buy more. I already have walkie-talkie and 500 minutes that never get used. I don't EVEN want to learn to text. LOL

Now there's some scam going on on landlines. An unidentified number calls and says you're behind on an account. They then ask for all kinds of info and get you to make a payment by phone. The hitch is, they're scamming and use disconnected numbers that showup on caller ID.

I've started using whocalledus.com. I never answer if I don't recognise the number.

I don’t answer if I don’t recognize the number, either. Most of the time, it’s a wrong number.

Is that whocalledus.com a local service? It sounds like a good idea, anyway.

It’s a nationwide webpage. If you don’t recognise the number, it also tells you who it was if someone else has been called and registered the call with them.

Las Vegas is full of scammers. I sometimes feel bad because I’ve gotten snappish with people and had the immediate impression that they had no idea that what they were doing was part of a scam. They were just trying to earn some money. But I recognize the scams, so in a way, that puts me on my guard with everyone.

I'm rather cynical. And I don't trust phonecallers. If it's that important, it SHOULD come in the mail too. Unfortunately, the trend is to now call on the phone and do a payment via phone. That is so ripe for a scam.

Well, I have to go water Pat Austen and the other 18 roses. Catch you later.

Good Morning!

Today's obituary of note: Hal Fishman

He's been a news anchor literally as long as I've been watching TV in SoCal.

I remember him from when I was in LA. He’ll be missed.

That’s a beautiful rose! It’s been a long time since I was anyplace long enough to plant roses and enjoy them.

We have roses, although they’re having a bit of trouble in this heat! They didn’t bloom very well this year.

I’m going to make some whole-wheat crackers to eat with baba-ganoush, which I can’t mix up until I get more cilantro!

Thanks! My garden is on my neighbors property. The landlord is a "city boy". He bought the building from our old landlord. We had to move the roses...............the city boy sprayed grass and weed killer because he putting stone in the yard. He doesn't like my birdfeeders either. He said he misses the city (NYCity)...........wish he'd go back. ;)

I just bought Garden Party from WalMart for $4.16. I'm as happy as a pig in shi.......uh.........mud.

It's going to be in the 90's here too. I'll be toting jugs of water for the roses today.

What roses do you have?

You mix up some pretty exotic dishes. Some of it I’ve never heard of, and that seems wierd to me, as much as I’ve traveled.

Parsley I can handle. Cilantro, I can’t.

I make regular crackers out of tortillas. I toast them in the toaster oven until they get bubbles, then I butter them and put salt on them. Yummy! Hot saltines!

LOL! City slicker, huh? Thinks he’s a country gentleman?

Out here, we call them “greenhorns.” Yepper. And they’re usually pretty obvious.

I don’t remember their names! Climbing ones in the back, on the trellis-fence and the pergola, and small shrubbery-ones in front.

We had a late cold snap followed by a month or more dry, followed by heat ... nothing bloomed very well this year. My son watered everything earlier today. I have 103 forecast for today, 102 tomorrow.
