Teen Girls Accused Of Setting Kitten Ablaze.
COTATI, Calif. -- A three-month-old kitten is fighting for his life after allegedly being set afire by two teenage girls last week.
The male shorthaired kitten, named Adam, received second- and third-degree burns over 75 percent of its body and was being treated at an animal hospital in Cotati, in Northern California's Sonoma County, officials said.
The kitten has undergone two surgeries and had its tail and the tips of its ears amputated.
Two girls have been charged with cruelty to animals in connection with the case. They were arrested last Friday after allegedly pouring flammable liquid on the cat, only 8 weeks old at the time and setting it on fire.
A boy and his friend said they saw the smoke and heard the cat shrieking while the girls laughed.
The girls are being held in Sonoma County's Juvenile Hall. The maximum penalty carried by the charges against them is three years of confinement.
Jeez...a turtle? I’m glad it will have a good ending too. I’m also glad stories like this get out, so that ‘some’ peope ‘may’ think twice about hurting an animal. THanks for the stories...if you have a ping list about stuff like this, add me on :)
I love animal stories with a happy ending. =^..^=
Keep me on your kitty ping list, because I do appriciate all cat/kitten stories, even when does not have a good begining, such as this one because I do want to stay on top of animal rescue stories and this is one of the best animal rescue story. I do hope Adam not only recovers, but gets a really good loving home. He will need it. =^..^=
Bob is actually a tortoise, not a turtle, even though several of the published articles switch back and forth on that point. I think they were confused by the name of the place he’s being treated: “Turtle Dreams”. He’s made the news all over the globe.
I don’t have a ping list and I’m afraid I don’t have time to set up and run one.
Thank you for posting that, GS.
Soon after I posted my comment, there was an update on the story reported on the local news. The suspect’s parents must be so proud...
It might also help pursuade a jury that the monsters need to be locked up for a long time.
Objective analysis of what one ought and ought not to love has no effect on the human heart at all. And love is what makes things more special that other things.

\\Old story I know, but I posted an update vid from Dec if you haven’t already seen it. : )
Ping to post #209, folks!
Look at the pictures above. That doesn’t look like a cat that’s writhing in unbearable pain. And the second article says he bats at toys, which is something a kitten wouldn’t do if it was in horrible pain. I’m sure the treating vet evaluated little Adam’s quality of life and made the decision to treat rather than euthanize with that in mind.
If only we had the sense to sterilize these girls. But they’ll be out on the streets again in less than a year, and pregnant before you know it. Actually, they’ll probably get sprung while awaiting trial, and get pregnant before they get locked up for few months.
Thanks for the update - I’m glad to hear that Adam made it and now owns a nice human and some dogs.
Glad for the updates. Adam is going to have a wonderful life. Seen his homepage. =^..^=
Thanks for the update and websites. Bookmarked. =^..^=
Ping #209 (happy ending)
Animals are far more resilient than we think : )
If that was my child, I’d beg the Judge to put them away for life, cause I’d kill the little Evil when I got my hands on it.
Make no mistake, this isn’t a sick child, this is a demon walking around in flesh form.
If I was burned that bad I’d want to be put down.
