Teen Girls Accused Of Setting Kitten Ablaze.
COTATI, Calif. -- A three-month-old kitten is fighting for his life after allegedly being set afire by two teenage girls last week.
The male shorthaired kitten, named Adam, received second- and third-degree burns over 75 percent of its body and was being treated at an animal hospital in Cotati, in Northern California's Sonoma County, officials said.
The kitten has undergone two surgeries and had its tail and the tips of its ears amputated.
Two girls have been charged with cruelty to animals in connection with the case. They were arrested last Friday after allegedly pouring flammable liquid on the cat, only 8 weeks old at the time and setting it on fire.
A boy and his friend said they saw the smoke and heard the cat shrieking while the girls laughed.
The girls are being held in Sonoma County's Juvenile Hall. The maximum penalty carried by the charges against them is three years of confinement.
I believe (and I may be wrong here) that they are from the same Anabaptist roots, but the Bretheren have a strong emphasis on social justice and missions whereas Mennonites are focused on modesty and personal holiness. Both denominations are pacifist.
We left the Bretheren church when I was a boy because my dad-who was active duty Army at the time-couldn't stomach the anti-military slant of the church.
Comparing and contrasting is a useful tool in intellectual considerations etc.
Threads ebb and flow in diverse directions normally. Folks pick and choose which facet they read and pay attention to.
Thread nannies have fallen out of style around here.
OK. I see the difference. Although I am working on how one can have social justice without force.
Even Jesus told Peter to buy a sword, and it wouldn’t have been for trimming his toenails, either. To me, it would be the equivalent today of telling him to buy a gun. Kind of single purpose instruments.
And He did drive the money changers out of the Temple with a whip and over turn their tables. Not something any church leader could get away with today either.
Interesting.
Actually, anything less than an "eye for an eye" is not justice by definition. The penalty must fit the crime or justince is not served.
Individual Christians are not called to dispense justice, but we are to share the grace God has given us by turning the other cheek. On the other hand, the state is established by God for the purpose of dispensing His justice, and in that milieu an "eye for an eye" is still operative (Romans 13).
I still think those deacons did good.
I was reading some of the updates on the site of the animal rescue organization that he was originally taken to, and they seem pretty sure now that the others were either let go or escaped, and since they were feral to begin with, they’re probably doing okay on their own.
It’s awful—beyond words.
I sense that this kitten is a fighter and with the good vet doctor taking good care of him, Adam with both the medical help and the love will help him to survive and thrive. =^..^=
You are talking about statistics, not facts. Get your facts straight.
I could easily claim that any kid that spends a great deal of time outdoors will be more likely to engage in that type of activity. And also, that kids that do spend more time outdoors are more healthy, coordinated, and athletic. Therefore, kids that engage in that type of activity are more healthy, coordinated, and athletic and that type of activity should be promoted for the kids sake.
A great deal of statistics are crap. I think you are being fooled by one.l
I hope your right....thanks for pointing that out.
Great job! Donation sent!
Excellent video.=^..^=
Thanks for getting the vet hospital link. Bookmarked. =^..^=
You betcha'! And he deserves every chance for a good long happy life, poor lil' fella'!
Send letters people! Make a loud noise! Yes I'm sure these girls have troubles and so deserve the attention that they SHOULD get ... and not just a slap on the wrist and the judge saying, 'bad girls! bad girls!' but if the public outcry is a whisper, it might not happen!
after seeing that video, adam is going to be one spoiled little kitty.
I KNOW!! LOL (scritch scritch scritch purr purr purr ADORABLE!)
The more people I meet, the more I like my cats.
Another tortured animal story that looks like it’s going to have a happy ending — Bob the tortoise is expected to recover, and go home to resume his important occupation as a 6 year old autistic boy’s beloved pet: http://www.contracostatimes.com/bayandstate/ci_6414650
Bob did not lose his legs (though he apparently did lose one toe), and a suspect has been arrested.
