Is Bretheren like Mennonite?

I believe (and I may be wrong here) that they are from the same Anabaptist roots, but the Bretheren have a strong emphasis on social justice and missions whereas Mennonites are focused on modesty and personal holiness. Both denominations are pacifist.

We left the Bretheren church when I was a boy because my dad-who was active duty Army at the time-couldn't stomach the anti-military slant of the church.

OK. I see the difference. Although I am working on how one can have social justice without force.

Even Jesus told Peter to buy a sword, and it wouldn’t have been for trimming his toenails, either. To me, it would be the equivalent today of telling him to buy a gun. Kind of single purpose instruments.

And He did drive the money changers out of the Temple with a whip and over turn their tables. Not something any church leader could get away with today either.

Interesting.
