Maybe under Tags but Goodell is the law and order guy, he’s been throwing around some fat suspensions without guys even being indicted and with their possible indictments being only misdemeanors. If he gives Vick less than a half season suspension the whole “get tough” approach he’s taken will lose it’s moral footing and disintegrate.

If Vick plays his hand right this will all go away.

I bet Daunte Culpepper is dancing around his house at the moment! Ok he is hopping around his house on his one good leg. But, I garauntee he has already booked a flight to Atlanta and is probably texting his agent every 10 seconds "have you reached Blank yet????"

If the Falcons do sign HIm, I bet Atlanta fans will be riveted to see who wins the QB fight Joey SCAREington or DONEtay Culpepper.

I can’t say I feel sorry for them. This has been coming for awhile. After he gave all the fans the finger I left all sympathy on the curb for him. And the water bottle.....sure it had nothing. Just bling storage, uh huh.

Those guys were repeat offenders however. Vick, as far as I know, has never been arrested. The bottle he threw away at the airport was tested for drugs and came up clean.

It is fairly easily to indict someone, especially in an overly emotional issue like dog fighting.

Vick met with Goodell and told him he had zero to do with dog fighting. Goodell doesn’t like being lied to.

Of course the Dawg usually winds up losing to a Gator.

Vick hasn’t been arrested but he’s had enough PR issues that he can’t be on Goodell’s good side. And remember Goodell came up the PR wing of the NFL, everybody talks about him as a lawyer but what I see is a PR hack who knows his business. This is very very bad PR, just having a star player hit with two felony counts is bad enough, for it to be something like dog fighting is just a nightmare.

Given how long this investigation has been going on I don’t think it is especially easy to indict someone for dog fighting. The DA seemed to be stepping very carefully in this one, learning the lessons from Kobe and Duke. That’s probably going to play into how Goodell handles things too, he’s not going to want a Kobe situation with Vick being at trial during the day and playing at night, bad PR there too.

Good points. These trials take time and the season is only a couple of months away.

Whether Vick is innocent of these charges or not, Vick was a dumb ass for getting himself in this situation.

I do think that Goodell is good for the league. NFL players actually have a lower arrest frequency than the general public but the numbers should be even lower than they are. Hopefully, a lot of the guys from the hood who made it big will learn that they have to leave their friends from their youth behind - even if they are family.

I like Goodell’s get tough stance. Even though I agree the arrest problem in the NFL was mostly media created (notice how little anybody cared about the spate of issues Colts had in the late winter and early spring, because of course everyone know the Colts are a bunch of good guys, not like those thugs the Bengals), bad PR is bad PR and eventually it’s going to start costing the league money. Having these problems hit the player’s pockets before it starts hitting the league’s is the smart move, they need to learn they aren’t Kennedys and can’t actually get away with murder.
