Well, I assume that trite answers like "Saddam Hussein so I could slip 10 tabs of bad acid and some rat poison in his dinner" or "David Geffen so I could auction it on-line to the millions of graspers all vying for his time" are against the spirit of the question.

And as much as I would love to meet say, Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine or Bob Mould or to have met Kurt Cobain etc, how much can you really accomplish in one dinner? You may love their work but hate them and have a really bad time. What big secrets would they tell you that you couldn't get from an interview. Would Kurt Cobain lean across the table and say "you know man, I've only known you for an hour but I've come to love you like a brother and I have to tell you, I think I'm going to blow my head off with a shotgun next week. What should I do?"?

And I don't think celebrities really have a great time at the "WKNY FM win a date with XXXYYYZZZ!" competitions so I would choose someone that I know would be a laugh. So, I would choose an outrageously expensive dinner with my wife Lisa.

General George S. Patton

Father Andreus Weyer, the Roman Catholic chaplain of my unit in Germany, did. A long story, but Patton helped his Abbey, which had been suppressed by the Nazis, recover. Father Andreus and the Brothers from his Abbey spent the War in Dachau.

Father Andreus had a very high opinion of General Patton and didn't think the movie did him justice.

Father Andreus was a remarkable man, the bravest, holiest and one of the most modest men I've ever known.

Come to think of it, even if I never had lunch with Ted Williams or George S. Patton, I did have lunch, on several occasions, with a very remarkable man.

The first Las Vegas show I ever saw was Dean. It was in 1987 so late in his career but it was a light fun show. The intro for him was....and now direct from the bar....Dean Martin!!!

I was mentioning that I knew someone who had lunch with General Patton, a remarkable and admirable man, and thought to myself, Father Andreus was a remarkable man in his own right.

If we think about it, we all knew some remarkable people. In someways, I benefited more from knowing Father Andreus, in large part because of his modesty, than I ever would have benefited from knowing any celebrity, including a celebrity general.

Several years back, I played Indians with my then 3 year old granddaughter. We had built a tepee and had a deerskin floor. I asked her what she wanted for lunch. PIZZA!!

She thought I was a real indian to just recently. She's 12 now.

Her first shoes were teeny, tiny mocassins. They took me all day to make because they were so little.
