Sun Microsystems is working on releasing an easy-to-install binary version of its OpenSolaris open source operating system Manage remotely with one interface -- the HP ProLiant DL360 G5 server. with delivery planned for early 2008, the company told the press Thursday in a meeting in San Francisco. If, and I say If, anybody can come up with an easy to install (and one that will recognize all current hardware and software) Linux (Unix) package, Microsoft is toast.
Doc I hate to break it to you but many distros are as easy to set up and use as Windows what Linux need(ed) was an OEM to back them (most people dont install windows). Maybe Dell will give them the in they needed.
It’s here....
But, like another poster said, they need the backing of a large OEM.
Easier actually. In the case of SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, it took less time as well. Some hardware drivers (such as those for HP printers) were far easier to install under SuSE than they were under Windows XP.
As the hardware supported increases, so will Linux use. The price (even for Enterprise editions) can't really be beaten by Micro$oft.
And BEryl is ready to go....Beryl is the 3D Desktop.....
