CLEVELAND -- A neighbor apparently angry about noisy fireworks shot three people to death early Thursday and wounded two others, police said.
Terrance Hough Jr., a 35-year-old off-duty firefighter, was arrested in connection with the shootings near his home shortly after midnight
The shooter was apparently upset about loud noise from fireworks at a house next door and opened fire, killing two men and a woman, all in their early- to mid-20s, Stacho said. He said another man was shot in the elbow and a woman was wounded in the hand.

Well, it was in the city of Cleveland, where there's a homicide about every 3 days or so. This neighborhood is off of Spring Road, which wasn't really a bad area when I used to live close. I don't know how it may have changed over the last 10 years or so though.

If the “more to the story” involved the safety of my wife and children then yes it would justify it.

Sorry Publius, I didn't know you think everyone who lives near the water is a snob undeserving of peace. As Corin said, our beach house is an older house my grandparents purchased in 1960 for $19,000 that has since passed down to us. The property is worth considerably more now, I suppose, but it hardly matters unless we wanted to part with it.
I actually live in an older mobile home on property that I rent, but what difference does that make? IMHO, even rich snobs have a right to be perturbed about garbage and noise. :~)

Well, mr. smart guy, if you know so much, spill, let the rest of us in on the details you know about this particular story of murder over fireworks.
For such an objective person as yourself? Pass. You can read about it in the papers like the rest of those jumping to conclusions.
I’m guessing the street will be a lot quieter next July 4th!
Other news sources are reporting the firefighter made noise complaints against the victims’ house for several years, most recently in 2005.

This was not just over fireworks and it was not an isolated incident. All the local news outlets are following the patent formula for incidents like this. Start with the drama and saying what a tragedy it is then later get down to what led up to the shooting.
I believe you have me confused with another poster. I made no such statements to you or anyone else.
So it’s OK to murder over loud parties, fireworks and drag racing? That’s certainly not enough to allow the guy to even flash a weapon legally. The murder certainly is not justifiable, and the family was never in any kind of direct harm, as far as the article states.
You state you know more about this, please share it with us. I’m going on the printed reports (for what they are worth), you are the one going on supposition at this point.
I do have to give the guy credit, though, for being a good shot. 3 dead and 2 other casualties? That’s some pretty good shooting. He should have been a cop. We’d probably never have heard/read the story at all if he were.
At this latitude, it is barely dark by 11 PM. Anyone who expects quiet on the fourth of July would have to be a nutcase to begin with. It is hard enough to get the kids in bed by 10.
