LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A teen whose feet were severed at Six Flags' Kentucky Kingdom has had one foot reattached according to a statement released by her family.
The family of Kaitlyn Lasitter, 13, whose feet were cut off when The Superman Tower of Power malfunctioned at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom last month, issued a statement updating the details of her medical condition Tuesday.
The statement reports that Kaitlyns right foot has successfully been reattached at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she remains in stable condition.
We were not able to reattach the left lower extremity due to the severity of the injury, Dr. Douglas Weikert said in the statement. Things are progressing as expected over this first 10 days.
The statement also reiterated a detail reported in the familys first public announcement, claiming that no representatives from Six Flags have attempted to contact them since Kaitlyns injuries. Six Flags has since denied that claim.
Kaitlyns parents, Randy and Monique Lasitter, also thanked the community for its support, and they thanked the doctors who are working on their daughter.
We look forward to Kaitlyns recovery and getting back to some sort of normalcy in our lives in Louisville, the parents said in the statement. Without the support of our close friends this could have been a much more difficult situation to handle.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the accident continues. Officials from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture said earlier this week that it could take many more weeks to determine exactly what caused Kaitlyn's injuries.

Good for you!! I'm sure this will perk her up some, I hope, maybe, to know that people have read about her and that they care. Thank you for that, Dubya.
I too have sent one. Let's hope she gets an avalanche of good wishes! It's a small enough thing to do in this world so filled with stories of bad news and heartache.
Yes, Pegita, prayers for Kaitlyn and her family!
Welcome to Free Republic!
Cheers!
Thank you! My sister told me about the forum and here I am. I love it. Thank you for the welcome! (your basket of grey whiskers? Looks JUST like you took one of mine and cloned her to make the 7? 8? LOL)
I borrowed the photo from a creation/evolution thread.
Full Disclosure: Many of the participants in those threads have left Free Republic as of (roughly) last October as the result of a particularly nasty flamewar on one specific thread.
Second Disclosure: I DO own a grey cat however. (OK, *she* owns me.) Application of said feline to my screen name is solely at your discretion. :-)
Cheers!
Shame about the flame war. Can't we all just learn to get along?!
Cheers right back at ya'!
I join in earnest prayer for Kaitlyn.
When I was about 13 I went to Girl Scout camp and one of the senior girls was a girl named Brandy, she had an artificial leg. She was beautiful and could do just about anything and she amazed us. It was even more sensational when we found that she lost it when she and her father were in a car accident and she was pinned under the car which was burning and to save her life, her father had cut it off. She will certainly receive my prayers though.
You may want to send a FReepMail to Slings and Arrows, if you haven’t yet. He runs the Kitty Ping List! :)
