How The Majority of FReepers are Chasing Rabbits
Vanity | 07/03/2007 | VaBthang4

Posted on 07/03/2007 1:04:29 PM PDT by VaBthang4

The majority of threads created, the majority of posts written...

From the knee-jerk and oft-times erroneous reports regarding illegal Immigration and the Politics behind it...to the divisions drawn up as a result of have so many phony hack politicians thinking that they can become a President...to the Terry Chiavo case...to Libertarians posing as Conservatives down to the moronic slander railed against President Bush...

I can only conclude that the so called Conservatives here at Free Republic have gotten off track.

Do all of us [Conservatives] have valid opinions? Of course.

Do all of us [Conservatives] have legitimate concerns? Of course.

Should we look past the appointing of Supreme Court judges who can now take back the Courts or the tremendous strides W has made in avenging 9/11, taking out Saddam Hussein and letting the leash off of the CIA & FBI in order for them to go after the immediate and real [see not imagined] threat to National Security and the Constitution; Sociopathic Islam?

God forbid.

Some of the things I have read here regarding the President's shortcomings have been just plain sad.

The adolescent ranting that once seemed confined to the Loserdopian crowd have crept into other circles.

The Anti-Illegal Immigration crowd [of which I would've thought I was a member] has been embarrassing in some of its observations and responses.

All the brutal incompetence regarding the Terry Schiavo case did NOTHING but provide Liberals with talking points and the opportunity to point to a supposed split within the Republican Party.

Now the divisiveness [I plead guilty] that results from supporting different Conservative [and not so Conservative] candidates, the majority of which do not stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything other than their own states/districts.

Something has got to give.

All I know is Liberals are united in taking back the Presidency. To the point that if any one of their candidates makes an attack against another candidate, their poll ratings drop instantly.

We better wake up.

The bottom-line is that with all of the failures of the former Conservative legislature and this President...the situation is light years ahead of what it will be if we stay fractured and GIVE this thing back to the Liberals.

Make no mistake about it...any one of these Democratic candidates will be the most Liberal, destructive President that this country has ever seen.

Wake up people and get your priorities straight.

From his/her about page: “Voted for W twice and probably would again if he could run for a third.”

Fool me once......Fool me twice....Hell, fool me thrice!

If you think this Constitution can be defended without “some political party” — one that actually exists and has a large share of the seats in Congress, not one that a bunch of soreheads try to create out of thin air — you’re on drugs, FRiend.

If you think that blindly supporting one party regardless of what it does is going to move things in the right direction, then you're a fool.

By the way, the GOP and the Democratic parties were both created "out of thin air" at one time. They're not eternal.

I think that was the logical conclusion to the post.

“Hey, all you numbskull conservatives, get behind MY GUY or else you are a bunch of LOSERS”

There, how’s that for a translation?

"Wake up people and get your priorities straight."

The "anti-illegal immigrant amnesty" group that you denigrate DOES have its priorities straight. What you fail to understand is that if 12 million current illegals are gifted with citizenship, AT LEAST two-thirds (and probably more like 90%) WILL vote for the Democrats.

If legislation to that effect happens, you can kiss any chance of a conservative Congress or Presidency good-bye--NO MATTER WHAT ACTIONS CONSERVATIVES MIGHT TAKE. The game will be OVER.

I do think, however, that many are too quick to throw a lot of people under the bus over the 1% they disagree with when they’ve been with us 99% of the time.

Some issues, like abortion, are non-negotiable. Either you understand that it is murder, or you don't.

If those that don't care or (heaven forbid) are pro-abortion, and don't mind throwing the innocent "under the bus," then I (and many like me) have no time for anything else they have to say, because their reasoning and/or conscience is in need of repair. It's that simple. If they don't get that issue, nothing else they have to say will matter, as statements from a person lacking such reasoning are suspect by definition.

Now, for other issues that are NOT bigger than politics, we can negotiate and at least agree to disagree if no common ground can be found.

Is that answer acceptable?

Hmmm...sounds like this thread is a sort of a rabbit hunt all its own. :)

Make no mistake about it...any one of these Democratic candidates will be the most Liberal, destructive President that this country has ever seen.

I agree with that, but sadly, so would someone like Rudy IMHO. McCain I fear would only marginally better. I pray, and intend to work hard, for a Hunter, a Thompson, even Mitt over either of those two. We'll see where the dust settles.

One thing is for sure, and has been witnessed again and again throughout our history as a nation. It is what Patrick Henry said, and I believe, after (and only after) we do all in our power, and show by our hard work that we are willing to sacrifice for these unbelievable blessings of liberty that we enjoy, then does Patrick Henrey's statement also come into play:

...it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

...If we wish to be free-- if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending--if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained--we must fight!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us.

Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us.

The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

I don't consider abortion a 1% issue because it is part of one's fundamental and their view of rights and our country. If they are willing to let an entire class of citizen be killed, that belief spreads to much of their other philosophy. It shows the believe that one individual has the right over another's life, a completely anti-conservative value. Once you cross that line, there isn't much that isn't touched by this value (or lack thereof.)

Amazing! You have just offended most of the FReepers who post here. You have made a huge mistake. FReepers are going to rip you a new one, and guess what? You deserve it! Where do YOU get off telling US that we are wrong feeling the way we do about Bush? He has earned the lack of trust many of us are feeling toward him!

The American political system, indeed everything about America including the amount of money required to start a real third party, is infinitely larger and more complicated than was the case 150 years ago. So your 10th-grade civics class-level analogy is largely irrelevant.

I don’t “blindly” support the GOP. I support it with my eyes open. My open eyes tell me it’s still far better than the Rats. In addition, moving the GOP in the right direction, while desirable and necessary, is not necessarily accomplished by conservatives leaving it. You assume the party leaders will respond to this hemmorhage in good ways. They might also respond in bad ways. Furthermore, moving the party in the right direction is not as important as keeping the Rats out of the White House AND winning back Congress.
