Snip...Michael Moore's documentary Sicko did $1.3 mil Friday from its 441 theaters, good enough for 9th place. It could finish the weekend with $4 mil.
...snip..
A Mighty Heart starring Angelina Jolie collapsed completely, managing only 14th place with $470K Friday.

After all this hype, how can ninth place be called “healthy”?
Well, it did not open in wide release (4 theaters in Dallas area and two of them art house types).
But (in my opinion) the people who were crazy enough to go to a Michael Moore mock-umentary went the firt weekend.
I hope and expect it to drop like a rock from now on.
Good! I saw an advance screening of that anti-Bush/anti-American propaganda piece until I was asked to leave for shouting at the screen.
Everyone I know has already downloaded the Torrent version of "Sicko" for free (at my urging). Why should they pay to see it?
“A Mighty Heart starring Angelina Jolie collapsed completely, managing only 14th place with $470K Friday.”
But I am sure it will be nominated for an Academy Award.
It was weird how the young man developed a love interest in the woman who seemed older than he was. I don't know. That was kinda creepy.
Reading some of the reviews. Some consider ‘Ratatouille’ to be the best Pixar film yet, and that says a lot.
When I say it seems like everyone else liked ratatouille, I mean the critics. The kids in the audience were not laughing so much like they did at the other movies. Ask a kid. I’d be interesting in their feedback.
It is the worst Pixar film.
AS soon as people learned that it's an anti-American, anti-Semitic piece of crap, they decided not to see it. The market rules!
I saw it with my neices last week in preview and we all liked it. It’s not perfect but I would rate it a 7 out of 10 which to me is a good passing grade.
After all this hype, how can ninth place be called healthy?
it is healthy....under the crap filled socialized medicine plans that fat dope mikey moore and all his lib/dem buddies demand the US healthcare becomes!!!!
Why is a NINTH place movie listed THIRD in a headline?
I’d like to know when Cuban state television will be airing this Michael Moore propaganda piece. They broadcast F911 and the MPAA never did pursue charges about the “illegal” broadcast (perhaps it was authorized by Fat Mike).
I went to the first early morning showing, (9am) Friday morning with the grandkids, Mom and my wife. We LOVE Pixar, however this movie was dissappointing. The Grandkids fell asleep, this movie bored an energetic 3 year old.
This movie was definitely and unfortunately is the worst Pixar movie yet. Animation is first rate, advancing beyond the technical prowess of Cars - don't get me wrong, Pixar has talent like no one else in the industy. But the 'magic' just wasn't there.
Sure, there are a few isolated funny scenes; but the plot is thinner than generic chicken broth. Here's the plot - a rat is the chef. That's it. Now, let's make a movie that is 2 hours long on that theme. No customer or other chef is allowed to know that the rat is a chef. How long can you run that gag before you bore the audience?
So, I gave the entire movie away; which you would know if you saw a single advert for this movie. With that bashing done; I will say that Pixar's worst is far better than most eveyone else's best efforts. But Toy Story (1&2), Bugs Life, Incredables, Cars, Nemo and all of their shorts were more original, more entertaining and more 'fun' than Rat.
Nevertheless, it's worth seeing this movie. Each movie Pixar comes out with raises the bar of their previous attempts. This movie was the first one that they have made that failed to match the standards that they have set for themselves.
Have you seen Live Free and Die Hard (or whatever the title is)? Now that time zipped right by. Really entertaining.
I'm sad to say that I agree with you 100%. Pixar movies are usually outstanding; this one was boring.
No not yet...maybe this week sometime. However it’s not a movie I would take my neices to. :)
