Er...uh....that statement was made with the understanding that there is a natural but unspoken caveat that FReeper type governmental entity workers are exempt from that rule...

The turbine whine was a needle in the ears, much like the icy wind that flowed over and through the rider of the hovercycle.
Icy, IF he’d been able to feel it.
He smiled at that fact, punched the throttle, and continued his long descent down the mildly winding mountain pass.. causeway?
He didn’t know what it was called these days, he didn’t truly care.
For the first time in centuries he had purpose, a mission, he was needed.
And a little technological advancement wouldn’t hamper him in his pursuit of his duties.
No-one would hinder him, he would see to that.
The turbine whine rose in a Hyrack shriek in the mountaintops as his thoughts drifted.
Presently, he lightninged past a waiting law enforcement officer while on full burner.

“Base..... you are NOT going to believe me on this, but a Chasstech 9000 hovercycle... just shot past me without a rider. Do they have autopilot functions..?” the officer didn’t know whether to call search and rescue or find out what was going on with the bike.
Gotta find some pain relievers, yes.. he fumbled in the console of his vehicle for two Onzip 20’s and tried telling himself he was seeing things.
The console systems beeped at him in mild contrarian disagreement.
Groaning, his day had just gotten worse.

What was that following him with the horrible flashing lights that were worse than a troubadour outfit?
And what was with the hideous whining it made, it sounded like a Norkell lowing on the moors!
He looked over his shoulder at the, vehicle he guessed as it had an occupant, and stared.
“See me.” -a command, not a plea or a request.

The Order protect me!
Spoilers, airbrakes, and grav-resistors kicked in as the law enforcement interceptor slammed to a gut wrenching halt.
The officer got out, and threw his hat while running his hands through his hair.
Never in all his years on the force had he seen someone melt out of the air and into visibility like that.
And never had he heard them TELL him he would see them, let alone tell him while doing two hundred meh an hour without a helmet or quickcomms.
He considered taking the desk job he had been offered, he was close to retirement after all.
He was getting too old for this.

Karsh turned back to the road and sighed, he was getting too old for this.
He was a ghost, this was true, and the pain of the memory never left.
But he had purpose.
And he would fulfill it... or die trying?
His laugh was heard from mountaintop to town below.

Oh, absolutely.

My response was dedicated to my useless coworker, who is about to get my stapler up her nose.

When people say “government employee” and roll their eyes, she’s who they’re talking about.

Make it an Archer brand T-50 stapler with upholstery staples.
And zap on the top edge of the right shoulderblade.

Don’t ask how I know about what that is like, many already know how.

I’ve heard the story. I just wonder how come staples show up in other posts just when you show up.
Coincidence?

I think not.

I dunno.
Probably because I attract staples.

I tried that in my F-150 years ago. No difference in gas mileage. It may work on a carbureted car as opposed to fuel injection. Just know it didn’t work for me.

It does no damage to the rubber gaskets. If you had tried to carry gasoline in a styrofoam cup, it would also melt.

If you do try it, be careful not to spill any on your paintjob, or your nail polish.

Much. It’s almost chilly outside, and I swear I felt a raindrop on my way to the bank.

Good times!

Sounds like a perfect day to run.

I’ve got upper 80’s and storm clouds building to the north ... so I had a nap.
