They can’t be the only mfg. of these windows. I would do a little more searching and find a mfg who will work with you.

Yikes. In my experience with trying to ship window glass any significant distance, it is very difficult to pack/wrap it to prevent breakage. Do you know anyone in the Pompano area who could pick up the windows and special pack them for you? I’m thinking gobs of bubble wrap inside a sturdy, oversized cardboard container...

Tell them to go stuff it.

I would not deal with a company like that.

He could easily call a local UPS and tell you the charges.

Unless you are hoping the shipping will be free.
(in which case I would also tell you it was not cost-effective for such a small order)

Consider adopting a “not my problem” approach to the Florida firm, and find somebody who understands customer service and pompadour windows nearer to Illinois? Not trying to be a smart*ss, but that would be my first move. I bet there are any number of good Canadian firms that would be only too pleased to sell you a couple windows.

If not, see if a local freight consolidator in Florida would include your windows in his next container going to Illinois. What they basically do is fill up containers full of stuff for all sorts of people, then unpack it when it reaches its destination and distribute it to where it is going. Dunno if they do this in the US, but I suspect so.

Giving the Florida firm the business merely reinforces bad behavior. Even if shipping isn’t core to their business, they should at least make some effort to nudge you into the right direction.

The only thing I can think of is find someone who will be driving up to your area who will pick them up and bring them to you for a price, would have to take care to find somebody honest, how one would do that I don't know.

I know UPS does pickup, but if they are unwilling to pack them properly to their specs, you are SOL.

You could ask them if they have an employee who for a fair fee would pack them on off-hours and ship them, probably UPS, FedEx (more expensive).

Greyhound busses take packages, I had something large (an antique dresser hard to pack) I bought on ebay shipped to me that way, and something I want to sell the way it is packed, the PO or UPS won't take it, a mirror, not as much glass as windows but glass). I'm not ripping it open and packing it again. Greyhound only wants them wrapped, they don't seem to care how, and do have insurance you can pay extra for, prices competitive, the only option for some things now.

Maybe somehow you can work something out that way. Stay on them. I know they don't like to mess with customers who don't spend a lot of money, not cost effective for them but would be a good will gesture to try to be more accommodating.

Good luck!

Jalousie windows are common in Florida.
Other jalousie window manufacturers should be available.

Cancel your order, and find someone else?

Do they already have your money?
This is crazy.....if they make them, they surely ship them???

Call a 'pack & ship' and pay extra for them to pick up and send, if need be?

Lowes, Menards, and Home Depot have a huge amount of catalogs from custom window manufacturers. One of them can surely find the windows you need. And they take care of the shipping for you.

#8 sounds like a good idea.

I found 2 manufacturers of jalousie windows in Pompano Beach...

..both only service Florida customers.

They should have told you this in the beginning, and were negligent if they didn't.

You could fly me from the South Pacific to Florida, and I will deliver them to Illinois..

Seriously, look up friends you know in the area, and have them pick up and ship.

Assuming these windows cannot be found elsewhere.

Otherwise, take a trip to Walt Disney World, and pick them up yourself..
