We have found a manufacturer of jalousie windows needed to prepare a house for sale, but they are in Pompano Beach FL and the windows are needed in Illinois.
Strangely, the manufacturer has a "not my problem" response to the question of how to get the things packed and shipped.
It may be because it is a small order of only two windows. And we've never handled something like this ourselves.
Any suggestions on what to do?!
LOLOL!
“so they handle custom windows, too?”
Oh yes, I have bought several custom doors and windows from all three, Lowes, Menards, Home Depot. The reason I have used all three is due to availability of styles and pricing. I would recommend trying them if you have them in you area. All three are within 25 miles of me.
Thanks for the suggestion, caver!
I wouldn’t even bother dealing with such jalousie window manufacturer...
Sheesh martin, the lady asked a serious question. Can’t you just louver alone?
Blind jalousie
Slim, you’re a real pane.
You could fly me from the South Pacific to Florida, and I will deliver them to Illinois..
Seriously, look up friends you know in the area, and have them pick up and ship.
Assuming these windows cannot be found elsewhere.
Otherwise, take a trip to Walt Disney World, and pick them up yourself..
Caver, my husband tells me that these jalousie windows are unusual. He has already tried Home Depot and Lowes and they cannot get them.
The outfit in Pompano Beach (Ability Corporation) is the only one that he has found that makes them.
Heres what they look like:
If any of you recognize these and can point me in another direction, Id greatly appreciate it.
I’d rather not, but I’m having problems finding another source.
LOLOL!
Sadly, we don’t know anyone who lives in the area - unless of course there is a Freeper who lives around there.
..also, there's bound to be a Freeper in South Florida!
Yes, it is called "LTL" shipping in the U.S. (LTL as in "Less Than a Load" I thought, although it appears that "Less than a Truck Load" is the more common expansion from looking around the web.)
Federal Express does LTL shipping, as do many other companies.
“Caver, my husband tells me that these jalousie windows are unusual. He has already tried Home Depot and Lowes and they cannot get them.”
Sounds like you all have checked them out. I have not bought any like those before.
I didn’t know that he had already tried Home Depot and Lowe’s. Thank you so much for your insights!
Thank you for the tip on LDL!
LTL carriers: try Fedex Freight, UPS Ground, Estes Express.
Also check to see if there is some kind of Pack-and-Ship business in the area of the window mfg. They pick up freight, package it, and ship it with LTL carriers.
Thank you so much the leads and insights!
Jalousies are a regional feature. Deep south, I can see how they would be popular. With the temperature extremes we get here in the mitten, however, folks stay away from them like black mold.
Did you ever get your windows, btw?
