In your face homosexuality!

Posted on 06/18/2007 6:55:57 AM PDT by yooper13

This letter is in regard to an episode of “Brothers and Sisters” which airs on ABC on Sundays from 9-10pm central time. The blatant homosexuality displayed in the episode which was on Easter Sunday, April 8 was totally inappropriate on the most important Christian observance. In Leviticus 20:13 it clearly states that “If a man lies with a male as with a woman both of them have committed an abomination.” Here, the interpretation is clear—homosexuality is against God’s law and it shouldn’t be shown on TV, especially on Easter Sunday. Following is a list of sponsors for that episode which I hope you will help me boycott: Sony, Home Depot, Nissan, Lincoln, Quaker, Walt Disney World, Lexus, Applebee's, Loreal Paris, Toyota, Cousins Subs, Shorewest, Coldwellbanker, Verizonwireless, MazdaUSA, Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin, US Cellular, Acura, Sherwin Williams, Dovepronage, and Orlando Info. Thank you.

You know, Toyota, GM, McDonalds, etc didn’t make you sit down for an hour to watch anything.

They also can't make you buy their products - which is, of course, the point of a boycott.

Your Yooper map is bit out of scale. Actually the Lower peninsula is twice the size of the Upper - not the other way around.

The Upper Peninsula contains almost one-third of the land area of Michigan but just 3% of the total population. Residents are frequently called Yoopers (derived from "U.P.-ers"), and have a strong regional identity. It includes the only counties in the United States where a plurality of residents state their ancestry as Finnish.

The Upper Peninsula IS beautiful, with over 100 waterfalls and the fabulous Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Not to mention Cornish Pasties and the wildberry jams made by a monastery on the Keneenaw Peninsula.

Leviticus also refers to the consumption of shrimp and catfish by the same term - Abomination.

However, Jesus later declared all foods clean (Mark 7:19), but the sinfulness of homosexuality (both male and female) is reiterated more than once in the New Testament. (See Romans 1 for example.)

The difference is that the food laws were part of what is called the ritual purity law, along with the ritual washing and animal sacrifice. Those laws no longer applied once Jesus came, because He is our purity. The laws against homosexuality, incest, fornication and so forth are part of the moral law, and they still apply. (I will reiterate - we don't keep them to save ourselves; we keep them after we have been saved because of our love for the Lord.)

I realize the if one is not a Christian, one is not going to buy into that. But even common sense should tell a person that there is a difference between eating shellfish and same gender sexual relations.

My common sense tells me that abomination means abomination. Otherwise, why didn't Leviticus use the Hebrew word for "yucky" to describe catfish?

If the Bible is the unfailing absolute Word of God, why does it contradict itself so often? Over 500 times by last count.

We don’t live in a theocracy. But God’d moral law for personal conduct in this regard has been constant, and I’m in favor of that. Christ taught it (yes, He did— Matt. 19— a man and a woman) as did his inspired apostles.

Got a little worked up because I thought you were advocating abdication to the homosexual agenda and what that will mean to our society. His post may have been misguided; the scriptures aren’t.

Lighten up. He had to make arrangements to enter the Witness Protection Program.

I think it’s out of scale because it was made by a Yooper.

Cornish Pasties
Really?

Is this a big business?

Yes - The UP has been famous for their pasties for over a hundred and fifty years. The copper mines in Michigan were settled by the Cornish miners who brought pasties with them. The Cornish mingled with the Finns, Italians, Irish and French to produce today's Yoopers.

Pasties can be ordered online - do yourself a favor and try them:

"Made originally as a meal for the miners of Cornwall, England, Pasties date back about 800 years. Wives would bake meat and vegetables in a crust and wrap it in many layers of linens or newspapers for their husband's lunch. It provided a warm and filling meal in the cold, damp mines. Pasties arrived in Michigan over 150 years ago with immigrants who came to work in the iron and copper mines in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Pastie provided a hot and nutritious meal that had good holding capacity and could be eaten anywhere. This full-bodied flavor soon became a favorite with locals and visitors alike. A trip to Northern Michigan is not complete without a Pastie. "

Why are they bringing this up now. Was it ten weeks thinking about what to write or what. If I was offended by a show that bad I would have been writing it on Easter Monday. Plus, does this person really watch this show? I mean come on. The very first show talked about homosexuality and that is when our family changed the channel. If you want to watch it, go ahead, but if not turn it off. We did that with Commander in Chief and it worked.

I’m boycotting Applebees because their food sucks, the service sucks, and their phony decor angers me.

I just ate Applebees while FREEPING...true story. I got the burger and fries. Oh I had it to go.

I heartily agree with both of you. We’re on a slippery slope in this nation and don’t think God will be silent for much longer. I believe He’s already given this nation over to our reprobate ways and has abandoned us as a country, not as individual believers. If fools want to believe homosexuality is a-ok, they’ll soon find out that God will not put up with it or them forever.
