Leviticus also refers to the consumption of shrimp and catfish by the same term - Abomination.

However, Jesus later declared all foods clean (Mark 7:19), but the sinfulness of homosexuality (both male and female) is reiterated more than once in the New Testament. (See Romans 1 for example.)

The difference is that the food laws were part of what is called the ritual purity law, along with the ritual washing and animal sacrifice. Those laws no longer applied once Jesus came, because He is our purity. The laws against homosexuality, incest, fornication and so forth are part of the moral law, and they still apply. (I will reiterate - we don't keep them to save ourselves; we keep them after we have been saved because of our love for the Lord.)

I realize the if one is not a Christian, one is not going to buy into that. But even common sense should tell a person that there is a difference between eating shellfish and same gender sexual relations.

My common sense tells me that abomination means abomination. Otherwise, why didn't Leviticus use the Hebrew word for "yucky" to describe catfish?

If the Bible is the unfailing absolute Word of God, why does it contradict itself so often? Over 500 times by last count.
