Good job Phil ...
Poker Ping -— they locked the other thread on this topic
Good for him. But I respect Chan’s and Brunson’s bracelets more. They both have a bit of variety to their poker play and have won events other than No Limit Hold Em. Not to mention Chan’s back-to-back Main Event wins.
Now the race is on for them to tie Hellmuth. There’s lots of poker left.
BTW, this probably is a bit of a spoiler to people who were planning on watching the coverage.
Phil is the biggest crybaby I have ever seen.
Congrats, Phil. You’re not as bad as most people think...but you’re still a whiny brat. It wouldn’t hurt to win one in something besides HE.
why in the world was it locked?
Did this already air and I missed it?
why in the world was it locked?
we’ve had some funky moderators lately
No-limit hold'em, best game ever. :)
I really don’t enjoy watching when he’s playing.
Public persona. Away from the camera, he's a little different...
Yeah, I know I couldn't reply.
Poker Ping!
Freepmail me if you want on the Poker Ping List!
Thanks go out to SubGeniusX for the heads up play.
Good for Phil, his ego just isn’t big enough.
I hear what you're saying, and there is no denying that Brunson is an all-time poker legend.
But the flip side to your argument is that Brunson won a lot of his bracelets back in the era when the events had around 20 people playing in them.
Now you certainly can't blame the guy for being old, but I'm not sure that a bracelet won back in '79 really has the same value as a bracelet won today in a NLH event with well over 1,000 players.
I noticed that too.
PMS, probably.
There were more than 20, even in the late 70s when Doyle won his two world championships, but I don't think I agree anyway. The smaller fields were actually probably tougher because they were made up almost entirely of elite players. I don't think Jamie Gold would have stood a chance in this tournament 20 or 30 years ago. That's also one of the reasons you're not going to see any fluke players winning the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event.
You also have to remember that Doyle boycotted the tournament for four years while the Binions were involved in a family dispute. Had he played he might have won some more.
there is no denying that this guy is one of the best poker players ever, and almost certainly the best No-Limit Texas Hold'Em player ever.
Actually, Chan is generally considered the best No Limit Hold 'Em player in the world, although Hellmuth is generally considered the best No Limit Hold 'Em tournament player.
Broadcast Schedule for Remainder of 2007 WSOP Announced
THURSDAY JUNE 14, 2007 7:45pm PT
Las Vegas, Nevada (June 14) — Thanks to media partners ESPN and Bluff Media, as well as hundreds of credentialed media outlets, the 2007 World Series of Poker presented by Milwaukees Best Light will be the reach the largest audience in history.
Here is the list of remaining WSOP poker tournaments, followed by broadcast plans as they are known at this time. Broadcast plans generally refers to final table coverage. Please note that all dates are tentative and subject to change:
Hellmuth: “I have so much respect for Doyle and Johnny. To now be at the top of the all-time (WSOP wins) list is really about as good a feeling as I have ever had.”
He’s a winner at the game but a loser at the table. Matusow’s cussing, whining, and histrionics are an act, but with Hellmuth it’s all real.
Several semi-credible rumors on the poker boards that other champs don’t enjoy playing with him.
