Military Family Assitance Program
CNI's MFAP was starting to help our military families while their spouses are fighting for our freedom. We can never do enough to help our brave men and women in uniform as they serve this great country. We currently send our Love Cartons full of food and personal care items to bases all over the country. If you would like to help us send these boxes please write in your memo section of your check "Military Families" and we will send the box in your name. If you know of a military family that needs our assistance, please let us know. Thank you for your support of our military.
Anybody have any experience with this organization? Too many good causes have been hijacked. Something doesn't feel right to me but I am willing to learn from others.
Quotes from their letter:
"Friend, I don't want to just sit by as our troups families struggle to feed their children day-to-day. It's not right for our courageous troops to be away risking their lives for our sake, while having to worry about thir babies surviving at home."
"Yes my friend, war is a sad and scary time... especially for our troops children...."
"....while they are away in the Middle East, many of their children and families are going hungry here at home in the U.S."
"...many of our soldiers families find themselves relying on food stamps and soup kitchens for their meals."
None of that stuff is true anymore. The food stamp thing may be true if a really junior enlisted family has many children, but other than that, if you budget carefully and responsibly, you will be just fine. Besides, they get extra pay when in the Middle East, so that supplements it. I would be wary.
Well, the sad and scary stuff is true, but the money stuff isn’t.
While CNI checks out, this “project” is a SCAM.
Like many reputable charities, CNI “sells” their name for a percentage of the “take.” I need to see what percentage of donations taken in by MFAP are sent to CNI, used for administrative costs, and actually are received by “needy” military families.
I am retired Air Force, and lived on E-3 pay with three children. I never asked for, or received, “assistance” from anyone. Didn’t need it.
Have you seen military pay scales recently? If a family cannot “subsist” on this pay, something is wrong.
And, no military family that I ever knew would take kindly to what this organization says about them, OR accept one of their “care” packages.
Something is Rotten in Denmark!
I think that this is a scam. I sent a donation and when I viewed my cancelled check it was deposited in a bank of america for saturn corporation.
I do intend to investigate this more with my bank and have called CNI.
I WOULD BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT GIVING TO THIS ORGANIZATION.
