Local News Headlines!!

A Wayne County woman accused of killing her ex-husband with a meat tenderizer mallet has officially been charged with murder. Officials said 66-year-old Margaret Louise McCoy was originally charged with aggravated assault after her ex-husband, Michael Clayton McCoy, died Saturday morning. District Attorney General Mike Bottoms said the charges against Margaret McCoy were upgraded Monday to second-degree murder. That decision was made after the victim's death was ruled a homicide by the Tennessee Department of Forensic Sciences. Second-degree murder is a Class A felony punishable by 15 to 60 years in prison if convicted. Wayne County Sheriff Ric Wilson said findings of a preliminary autopsy conducted on the 65-year-old man indicated injuries he sustained in a recent assault resulted in his death. Sources with direct knowledge of the case said Monday that the weapon was a meat tenderizer mallet. They said forensics experts were able to match marks found on the man's body with the mallet. Deputies determined that Margaret McCoy was the only other person at the residence when the assault occurred. Wilson said Margaret McCoy is still being held in the Wayne County Jail without bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned yesterday in the courtroom of General Sessions Judge James Ross.

Look at the size of the timbers the house is made of ... almost bullet proof.

“I can never understand why a person would kill an EX-spouse”

Neither do I, when it is over, it is over. Move on with your life.

“Break out the “I was abused” defense. Victim will be found guilty of being a male, and the defendant will walk.”

It is sad, but you are exactly right!

Maybe it was that kind of a meat tenderizer but we have an antique tenderizer. It is a much different kind of a thing. One side is like a hatchet but without a sharp edge. It would definitely leave a mark.

Sometimes they refuse to leave you alone. I had that problem once. But he mysteriously decided to stop when I started dating a Marine.

I’m one of Mike’s cousins. My family and I just got back from his funeral, where our aunt looked completely broken by this, and my sister and I see all of your jokes about “beating some flavor into him” and “softening him up.” We were (appalled? disgusted? I really have no words for it) by what we saw written. Really nice, guys. I just hope that no one else in my family reads this. Next time, think about the effect your words can have on those who read them.
