As you might have surmised, that was the first personal experience I can recall having had like that. The ‘flying imams’ were obviously doing it, probably for several reasons, including testing the reaction of the other passengers and also the officials. I totally agree that they must be doing it to antagonize us, which begs the question of their true sincerity in their ‘act of worship’. After he left, I told the train driver that if the muslim was trying to bow toward mecca and was off by a fraction of an inch, by the time that aim got thousands of miles away, he would be off by many miles and bowing to something totally different.
