Went and saw Shrek the Third this past weekend. I had enjoyed the previous two flicks and was willing to give this one a looksey. It is basically the same forumla as the previous two - put Shrek on a journey and play some rock music in the backgroud. The forumula is wearing thin and this movie ranks last out of the three.
Overall, it wasn't that funny. It was too predictable. BUT, THE WORST PART OF THE FILM WAS HOLLYWOOD'S CONTINUAL BRAINWASHING OF OUR KIDS BY PUTTING A TRANSGENDRED CHARACTER IN THE FILM.
For whatever reason the writers/director felt it necessary to put a transgendered princess into the film to play along side Cinderella, Sleepy Beauty and Snow White. Why? Who knows. The character wasn't funny and added nothing to the story. It was just more in-your-face "accept this lifestyle" from Hollywood.
Be prepared to sit down with your kids and explain this character to them. Let them know that it is not ok. Hollywood wants us to brush it aside and not say a word. Silence is acceptance.
I don’t look like that either.....WHEW....
Kinda looks like one of my neighbors!
I don't think the character was meant as trans-gendered.. it was supposed to be Sly's mom..lol..
Eh...Shrek’s not really my cup o’ noodles. How about some spoilers???
What a face.
Can you imagine waking up next to that in the morning?
No Helen Thomas pictures please.
She was Cinderella’s ugly stepsister first introduced in the second movie.
What do you take your kiddos to see?
You had to say it. Now I want some.
Flowers growing, birds nesting & horses running.../ self righteousness.
Now you are HungryGypsy.
The Pinocchio bit was not really an expression of acceptance. The whole point was that they were trying to come up with things they knew to be false. They were surprised that it wasn’t false. The fact that there was a presumption of falseness indicates that it’s not really standard acceptance. It’s like gay jokes— they are totally anti-gay because it’s not funny to suggest someone is gay if they are gay and if gayness is just as acceptable as heterosexuality.
Someone has to read the lines (although in the case of animation, Hollywood only has to pay one salary for up to three voices from an actor).
Weren’t Robin Hood’s merry men supposed to be swishy in one of the earlier films?
Be on guard, the Sex Positive proponents (or as the guest on Michael Medved's show today who receives federal tax dollars called her group, something for "positive sexuality"...) want to indoctrinate students in primary grades too. The goal is to circumvent lessons learned at home and in some instances whisper that the parents are "wrong" in this area as to what is acceptable behavior...
“You’re wrong!!” - Larry King (especially funny if you’ve heard the sound bite on Laura Ingraham’s radio show where she plays “Guess the guest” for recent guests on Larry King’s tv show.
Hey, where you been?
