Houston-based KBR was awarded an initial $385 million contract in January 2006 for one year, with four one-year options extended into 2007. KBR held a previous emergency detention contract with ICE from 2000 to 2005.
ICE spokeswoman Jamie Zuieback told Corsi the primary intent of the contract was to build temporary detention facilities that could be used in the event of a mass migration crisis, but she confirmed the facilities could be employed in national emergencies, including natural disasters.

Whether you have Monday off or Thursday off to celebrate a holiday, you still only have four days of work.Yes, but if that extra day is combined with one or two other days, it starts to feel like a holiday.

Every day.
I had to go on Easter because Pat had turned off the freezer and we needed more ice cream :-).

No, I have a “40% off” seat cover made of some nylon stuff that suffers from static cling. I need to wash it and use a dryer sheet, or spray it with some anti-static stuff. if I knew where to find it.
The seatcover isn’t even made for my truck. I guess seatcover makers don’t think Toyotas should be on the road as long as mine, so most things don’t go back past 1990. This cover is for the backseat of some compact car, but the color and the price were right, so I bought it.
The alternative was to sit on a dirty, torn, ugly original seat, and that’s just not what I wanted to do. Especially when I dress up.

Since this is Vegas, everything is open on the 4th. The only days anything closes are Christmas and Thanksgiving. And even some stores are open for limited hours on those days.
This is truly a 24-hour town. You can shop some malls at 1:00 AM. And some grocery stores are open 24/7.

BUT! If you drink Friday, Saturday and Sunday, because you get Monday off, you’re going to be just as hung over if not more so, than if you drank Tuesday night and part of Wednesday.
I know it would cut down on fatal car accidents if we went back to celebrating on the original day.

I wonder what would happen if you stuck some magnets underneath it?

Under...? The seat cover? It would magnetize my butt and then I wouldn’t be able to drive!

I need to get going, get the chores out of the way and such. Hopefully we can say HI in the morning.

I like shopping before 7:00 AM, especially for groceries, because the aisles are pretty much MINE! Wal-Mart has a few people at that time, but not enough to make it hard to navigate.

No, the nearest casino is three or four hours west, on the Cherokee reservation.

Maybe folks like to have the stores open for the greatest convenience to the shoppers. Which is good. I’ve been in some towns where the sidewalks roll up at 5:00 PM.

I feel bad for those who work graveyard shift or holidays, and I always make a point of thanking them for being there! I suppose there’s enough business, between people who work odd hours, people who ran out of diapers, and so on, to keep a lot of the stores open 24/7.
One reason could be that we’re just off a major east/west US highway (no other way to get to the coast from Charlotte) and so we have lots of through traffic that appreciates a 24-hour Wal-mart.

That would do it.
I try to stay home on holidays, but if I HAVE to go into a store, I always thank the clerks for being there that day. I used to be one, so I know what a compliment means. It goes a long way towards making the day easier for the folks that have to work.
