Houston-based KBR was awarded an initial $385 million contract in January 2006 for one year, with four one-year options extended into 2007. KBR held a previous emergency detention contract with ICE from 2000 to 2005.
ICE spokeswoman Jamie Zuieback told Corsi the primary intent of the contract was to build temporary detention facilities that could be used in the event of a mass migration crisis, but she confirmed the facilities could be employed in national emergencies, including natural disasters.

I taught my son to drive on his paper route in a mobile home park, “way back when.”
I wasn’t too sure I was going to survive his first driving lesson...
When he took Driver’s Ed in school, he aced it.
“Ugh,” is right. I can’t be there when she does it, though it’s only once a week. She can have my share of snakes.
Hi, Angel!
Here come the afternoon thunderstorms up from the south! This is okay, since the zoo is to the North, and they’ll be ready to come back anyway before the weather gets up there.
In NC, you have to take driver’s ed, classroom and in-car, before you can get a learner’s permit and actually drive about. Anoreth had her classes back in January, so she’s forgotten whatever she learned about handling the car!
No disasters so far, though, and we’ll progress to more challenging roads in the next week or so. Now that the boys are home to help with the little brothers, we’ll have more opportunities for practice.
That’s what Scout camp is all about!
Their socks are so dirty that I just put a batch in the washer for a second wash!
When my son got his license, I told him if he got stupid and got a ticket, he would lose his license for a month.
He came home from school one day about two months later, and handed me his license. He had gotten a ticket. And he didn’t have to pay a fine: he had to go to court and face a judge. That was enough for him!
To my knowledge, he’s never gotten another ticket.
Good job!
I’ve had one ticket in my life, and a few minor collisions (my fault) and one big one (their fault).
I’ve gotten three tickets. The first one, I was driving a car registered in AZ, and I had a Utah driver’s license, but was in NV. I was doing 85...and got a $35 ticket.
The second was in CA, and I was doing 67 in a 65 zone. The cop was having a bad day, and gave me a ticket for $110.
The third one was in Tucson ~~ for Jaywalking....$120.
LOL yep. I remember that, since I was a Scout too, long ago.
I haven’t done much outdoor *anything* since the babies began arriving. I’m probably too attached to my air conditioning by now.
You run ~~ that’s “outdoors.”
Well, a little :-).
One of the goofballs is saying that the observance of “Earth Day” is caused by Harry Potter novels, or something. One of the interesting things about FR is that there’s always some poster who’s absolutely weirder than you thought anyone could be.
I might have been happier not knowing there were so many truly deranged people, most of them probably walking around looking fairly normal!
WHAT???? It sounds like said poster needs a history lesson. *sheesh* (I loathe stupidity!)
Some people would be better off if they stayed off the Internet entirely, and got a job at Wal-mart!
Speaking of Walmart, I need to make a trip to the grocery store for a few ingredients, before it starts pouring!
PS: I’m going to pre-order the newest HP book. I have them all waiting, and I’ll start at the first one when I get the 7th one. I can hardly wait!
(Though I do hope she doesn’t kill him off...)
Either that, or wear a sign that says, "I do only what the voices in my head tell me to do."
LOL! Be careful with those books, or you’ll end up dancing naked around a fire chanting songs to Mother Earth. (Per the goofballs.)
I told Anoreth she could drive to the store, so if I don’t come back ...
I have lots of voices in my head, but mine is the loudest.
Not the smartest, maybe, but definitely the loudest.
LOL!
I suspect Anoreth is excited and a little edgy, so be brave, Mom! Don’t let her see you sweat!
I sing songs to Mother Earth, anyway. Except they are directed Heavenward.... ;o]
