(Female) Teacher accused of having sex with (female)middle school student

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (AP) - A female middle school teacher in Goose Creek has been accused of having sex with a teenage girl.

Thirty-1-year-old Kanesa Hopkins is being held on $$300,000 bail on five sex-related charges. Hopkins recently had been named teacher of the year at Westview Middle School.

She's accused of having a sexual relationship with a former student several years ago. An affidavit states the sexual incidents occurred at both Hopkins' and the alleged victim's residences. The statement says Hopkins also was the girl's Sunday school teacher.

Hopkins faces four charges for incidents that allegedly occurred in Goose Creek and one in North Charleston, where she perviously lived.

North Charleston Detective Jerry Jellico says the victim came forward in the past couple of weeks.

Local news just reported that she’s currently behind bars but on adminstrative leave with pay.

My daughter goes to this school but doesn't’t know this teacher. The school sent home a letter for parents today. In it, it does say that she has been terminated and she had confessed in a written statement.

I feel so bad for the victim. Her identity is known at the High School.
