Second JFK assassin 'likely'
Herald Sun ^ | 18 May 2007

A NEW analysis of remaining bullet fragments from the 1963 assassination of US president John F Kennedy suggests a second shooter may have been involved.

The findings suggest the prevailing theory that a sole gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald, killed Kennedy is wrong, according to a research team that published its findings yesterday.

The researchers "show that evidence used to rule out a second assassin is fundamentally flawed," wrote William Tobin, the main author of the report, published in the latest issue of the Annals of Applied Statistics.

Mr Tobin, a former FBI agent and forensic scientist, teamed with bullet lead analysis expert Cliff Spiegelman of Texas A & M University to re-examine the five bullet fragments recovered after Kennedy's assassination, using new scientific advances.

The findings countered testimony to the House Select Committee on Assassinations hearing in 1978 in which Dr Vincent Guinn said the bullet fragments recovered signalled that two bullets of an unusual kind of ammunition were used.

Yes, the Senate will open hearings on where Gonsalez, Bush and Cheney were that day. Oh, and Iraq was based on a lie, blah blah blah.

Life is starting to resemble a Thomas Pynchon novel.

For those of us FReepers alive when it happened ... I never really believed it then, and my PARENTS never bought the story for sure.

The most telling evidence to me has always been the simplest. Take the rifle Oswald used, and try to reproduce the shots in the time frame, on target, employing the skills of a trained sharpshooter. I remember (at least I think I do) black and white film of a guy trying to fire a shot, cycle the bolt action, aim and fire again (lather rinse repeat) and he could not do it in the same time frame/ accuracy as Oswald who was not a trained shooter.

tin foil ...

I assmue you're kidding.

For every one of these pieces of evidence "proving" Oswald couldn't have done it alone, I've seen ten showing he could.

The JFK assassination conspiracy thing is like an article of religious faith--forget the proof, some people "just know" it was a conspiracy.

I have been to Dallas in March 2006. People there believe there was 6 shooters, 2 on the Grassy Knoll (left), 2 in the Texas Depository Building (red building on the left on the left), one in the Dallas Tex building (in the dark red building in the center) and one on the roof of a white building (center). Evidences like photographs and prints of bulletts on the ground undertake this theory.

I vaguely remember reading something a few decades ago that said that the total weight of all the fragments plus the “pristene bullet” added up to quite a bit more than the total weight of two unfired bullets.

Don’t mean nothin’ though. We’re never going to find out exactly what happened. The ruling class will see to that.

No, not kidding. I do remember the day/event of his death. I do recall the video (film) of a guy demonstrating how the rifle worked and trying to put rounds on a target in the same time frame, same range. The ‘sharpshooter’ couldn’t do it. As I recall, the story was more about amazement of how Oswald could have managed to do it as an untrained shooter, not so much as a conspiracy thing. Honestly I don’t even remember now if the rifle had iron sights (I think it did) or a scope. I just remember the perception of the moment — that maybe it wasn’t him with that rifle. I don’t really participate in the whole who shot Kennedy thing. I also have probably more doubts than beliefs that Oswald was a lone nut who got lucky. But I can move on ;-)

"some people "just know" it was a conspiracy."

In that vein I read an opinion piece recently and opined that conspiracy theories exist because as humans we don't like the idea that a single pathetic loser like Oswald or Sirhan can have such a impact.

I think that's a good point.

Amen Brother! Did anyone even bother to talk to this man, find out what he was doing on 22 November 1963? I think not!

Oh, by the way, I’m a huge pro-american, but I have to admit JFK was killed by the US government. All evidences point to this conclusion.

After the Missile Crisis, a lot of people believed JFK would lead the US into a nuclear war in position of weakness, because he cut fundings for the troops and called for withdrawal (libs already).

The establishment thought this man was dangerous. So they plotted to kill him.

Evidences are clear, even this video showing JFK bodyguards abandoning the President as they approached Dealey Plaza. The only bodyguard who try to stay near the limo was Jacqueline’s, the same who will later jump on the car to protect the President and First Lady. Jacqueline Kennedy’s bodyguard was not supposed to be in Dallas on Nov 22, 1963.

it is not unlike the 9/11 commission findings

whitewash and bullshite with a political agenda

and our rino boy specter was right there making his future career

Didn’t the House committee conclude there was more than one shooter?
