PARIS GETS OFF EASY

May 17, 2007 -- Paris Hilton's pals tried to get her sentence thrown out completely. That didn't work, but the heir-head will serve only 23 days of her 45-day jail sentence in a "special needs housing unit."

The sentence reduction is the result of credit for "good behavior," said L.A. County sherrif spokesman Steve Whitmore. Good behavior, according to the sherrifs office, is showing up for one's scheduled court date. However, most perps don't get amnesty for showing up in court when required.

Hilton's luxe accomodations are in a 2,200-inmate facility where police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile clientele reside when they've behaved badly.

The celebutard will be separated from the general inmate population and gets an hour outside of her cell to bathe, watch television and talk on the phone, said Whitmore.

Hilton was sentenced to jail for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.

A call to her lawyer, DUI specialist Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned. Hilton's flack, Elliot Mintz, declined to comment.

“aww come on, I’m at work. I’m already dealing with high levels of frustration. I don’t need that sort of frustration piled on.”

Maybe this will help! :]

On the bright side, this is the first time in 100 years that Paris was actually defended.....

If it was you or me, we’d be spending our 45 days in lock-up with the general population, and all that that involves.

Not likely. Time off for good behavior is SOP with all prisoners in local jails and even in prison in many states. It also is not unusual for inmates with minor violations and/or short sentences to be in a separate facility. Hilton does not seem to be getting different treatment than anyone else except the judge did "make an example of her" by giving her a stiffer sentence than others, in the same situation, have gotten.

Ha! I like that idea, and since I can’t sing the words in front of my ‘daily frustration’, I’ll just start humming the tune!

Yeah, you're right, I am a little curious. ;-) I wonder if this will even do it for her. Will she stop drinking and driving? I hope so.

That's one thing I do agree with. She does need some sort of protection. She lives in a bubble, self induced perhaps, but she really has no clue and having her publicist spout off about her plans to 'study' karate and self defense before she serves her time only serves to make her more of a target. Intentional or not to get special protection, I do think she needs it, for the full 45 days, imho. I'm disappointed they shortened it for good behavior before she served any time, after all, it's not her first time drinking and driving and behaving recklessly in ways that break laws, and, Paris, honey, that's not hot.

I expected this. After all, this is Paris Hilton. All along she and her mother screamed for special treatment just because she is she. A no talent, yucky celebrity whom even all her money and plastic surgery managed to make only average looking.

I had a good friend to chose to be jailed for Pro-life demonstrating.
The county jailer (not the judge) refered him to a facility like this one for his weekends (only) sentence. This was because of concern that the general inmate population at the regular county facility might prey on anyone “normal”, like him, who walked in. Even though he was 6 ft. 200lbs, anyone not bulked up w/tats and the right (wrong) attitude risks getting hurt in a regular jail.

I’m glad that she’s doing any time. Obviously, she’s a deeply immature person who doesn’t grasp responsibility too well. She can only be the better for it.

Did these folks drive with a suspended license as well?

Your question should be why weren't their licenses suspended........

Perp Ernie still owes me $50 for bailing him out of jail early one Sunday morning......
