New Hampshire authorities said yesterday that they will not press charges against a former Marine who stepped into a deadly shooting and killed a 24-year-old high school dropout who had moments earlier fatally shot a police officer.
The former Marine, Gregory W. Floyd, 49, was driving with his son along Route 116 in Franconia on Friday night when he saw Liko Kenney, 24, shoot Franconia Police Corporal Bruce McKay, 48, four times in the torso. After Kenney drove his Toyota Celica over McKay as the officer lay on the ground, Floyd grabbed the officer's service weapon and shot and killed Kenney. . . .
The elder Floyd drove his Tahoe into a spot between McKay and Kenney as a shield and told his son, who is in his late teens, to run to the officer's cruiser and radio for help.
The elder Floyd picked up McKay's gun from the ground and ordered Kenney to drop his weapon. Kenney refused, and Floyd saw Kenney appear to be reloading, Conte said. Floyd then shot and killed Kenney, Conte said. . . .
New Hampshire's attorney general, Kelly A. Ayotte, said Floyd will not face charges because he was justified in using deadly force.

What a tragic situation - good on Mr. Floyd for stopping and taking care of the dirtbag.
McKay’s cruiser videotaped the incident. The tape shows McKay, who had not drawn his gun, being shot by Kenney, according to Attorney General Kelly Ayotte. McKay, a 12-year veteran of the Franconia Police Department, was not wearing a bullet-resistant vest.
And the attorney general should have been applauding Mr. Floyd .Stating he would not be charged casts a question as though there was something wrong with Mr. Floyd's acts.
And I really don't see who the murderer's cousins might be matters.
Coldbrook had it's own "little Massacre" about 10 years ago, where a NHSP was killed by a wacko, while saving the lives of several townspeople.

Yeah but it is probably the most we can get from the government though. Don’t all shootings get investigated? Most seem to take awhile. The fast response is telling, IMO.
In the wimpified no gun society envisioned by liberals, the perpetrator in this case probably would have gone on and killed others and when captured would have received less than a life sentence and certainly not have been executed. This brave former Marine used his training to do what needed to be done and delivered swift justice to a brutal murderer. There will be no no repeat offenses or parole for Mr Kennedy and the state has been saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in trial and incarceration costs.
"Not face charges"... Hell, he should be given a medal!!!
Reminds me of an incident in Texas where a man witnessed a State Trooper being shot. He grabbed his scoped hunting rifle and took the perp out! He was given an award by the state for being a hero!
I agree. He should be given a medal.
He did what needed to be done, and saved the State a ton of money in doing it.
I don't know the laws in NH, but I am reasonably sure that if I, as a MA resident, shot a man who seemed to be reloading his gun, I would be in a world of trouble.
Wow....I never heard about that one. Makes me proud there are still some real men out there... who are willing to get involved.
Oh no, they killed Kenny!
Have you noticed that when any citizen takes hold of a bad situation and solves the problem the elected fools (the D.A. in this case) try to deflect the praise that should be given by saying things like....he won’t be charged in THIS CASE....blah,blah,blah? What a smelly skunk this D.A. is, and he should be run out of the county. The fellow who shot the jerk to death should get a medal and public praise for his heroic actions.
Those vests are damn uncomfortable. The problem is, when you need it, it's too late to get it on.
he can’t kill any jail inmates.
But, is there really any such thing as a “former” Marine?
Once a Marine..always a Marine! (except Murtha)
The Northern Areas of Vermont and New Hampshire are full of national guardsmen, and ex-combat servicemen, largely becuase it is not densely populated, lots of wilderness area, good place to raise a family, and is peaceful, most of the time.
Our shooting ranges lately have become social gatherings where ex servicemen and the local community meet, and fire up BBQs, especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
It is from this social scene that Greg Floyd hails. Not only should he be honored, but the liberal governor of New Hampshire should give him a citizen's medal.
Note the headline makes it sound like there was a feud between Greg and the perp Kenny. The perp was a spoiled brat, who lived in the fast lane, who had run ins with the police frequently.Kenny was a wayward druggie. His parents were in Hawaii at the time of his death and had to be notified there.
Local libs are getting behind Kinny's family to make it appear that Kenny died as a result of police harassment. In truth Kenny should have been put behind bars long ago.
Thanks Greg. You are a great American. God bless you.
Thanks George for posting this, the murder was published in Saturday mornings local papers here, but they did not publish Gregs heroic role in the tragedy of the police officers death.Everyone up here is still wondering what the details were.
Exactly :
