Thousands of sunburnt fans roared in unison and pumped their fists in the desert air Sunday night as reunited political rockers Rage Against the Machine took the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Stomping, shouting into his microphone, grabbing his curly hair and inciting the audience to "keep fighting," de la Rocha powered through songs ranging from the bass heavy "Bulls on Parade" to the anthem "Killing in the Name."

He also railed against the war in Iraq and likened Bush administration officials to Nazi war criminals.

"This current administration is no exception. They should be tried and hung and shot," he said.

Drummer Brad Wilk, bassist Tim Commerford and guitarist Tom Morello, who wore a hat with the word "UNITY" on it, completed the lineup.

"They changed my life. They made me a liberal," said sweat-drenched history teacher Rafael Ramon, 25, who had waited in a crowd packed shoulder-to-shoulder in front of the stage all day.

"All of America needed Rage to come back. They've been missing," he said

Isn’t it rather odd that a thread about someone threatening the President would be moved into chat?

Am I missing something?

Isn’t it a virtue to have world-class losers like these “rage” against you?

What a liar!!!! To suggest that going to watch some punk grunge band has such an effect as to move someone to "change" their political view to now be a liberal is subterfuge at it's worse. This idiot was raised by liberals and it shows. That's one of the biggest problems with liberals in this country - they can't every just tell the truth.

Funny...for being such Revolutionaries they haven’t jumped on board and moved to Cuba or Venezuela?

It is amazing how so many Communists are so damn good at being Capitalists.

I’m sure I have plenty of bands that you would like.

We’re not all robots, I can chill out to Stan Getz on brass or Barry White, or head bang to AC/DC or Led Zepplin.

I like lots of different kinds of music and as a result, I often find that there are some genre’s I like that don’t appeal to others who might otherwise share my musical taste.

I would imagine that a visit from the Secret Service might lead to an attitude adjustment.

“Audioslave is definitely better.”

Don’t know about that since I never really heard these guys, but you can count me as an Audioslave fan.

Threats made to President Bush is nothing new for Rage Against The Machine. They’re just a bunch of punkass anarchists acting tough on stage in front of their fans.

Well, I guess I can add RATM to my list of musicians to boycott (Dixie Chicks are on top of course).

I don’t mind that any artist has political views — I just don’t like being beaten over the head with them.

I used to listen to these guys when I was in high school. Little did I know at the time that their music was a vehicle for radical revolutionary leftism, and that they support just about every terrorist group in the world, most notably Shining Path.

The funniest thing about them is that they bash capitalism and corporations in their music, but distribute it through multinational corporations.

Rage Against the Machine; brought to you by Sony BMG and Best Buy. Hypocrites.

They are a lot of things, but talentless isn’t one of them. Tom Morello is one of the more inventive guitarists ever.
