The Seven-Ups

I forgot about that one. That's a good one too. Same director and stunt driver as Bullit.

Wow! What a great story! I like to watch the oldest “Dirty Harry” flicks because they show San Francisco the way it was then. Remember the old Cost Plus on the waterfront? *sigh* The coolest place on Planet Earth.

Mad Max had several. Same goes for The Road Warrior and Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdomw. Loved the way Wez and Humungous got theirs in the end. Sam goes for the Toecutter.

Hard to get much cooler than a Hemi Challenger.

I'm gonna have to watch that movie again now.

The late 60s/early 70s was full of them: Bullitt, The Seven Ups, French Connection, etc.

In more recent decades, the chase scene in To Live and Die in LA (directed, like the FC, by Billy Friedkin), and in The Rock were pretty impressive.

One of the reasons I love Daniel Craig is how much he reminds me of Steve McQ. Mel Gibson also stole/borrowed many of McQueen's mannerisms, something I noticed when watching The Cincinatti Kid the other day.

Chester and his mighty slant six still cracked me up.

Yeah -- directorial license, no doubt. Those California mountains where they shot it aren't that tough on carburetors.

Had a slant six in an old family sedan. I don't think Mopar's six-banger would have been the limiting factor. Roadability, maybe. Now, that would have been more exciting, drifting around corners on iffy tires and trying to keep the ass end from coming out and getting into the gravel. Fun!

I saw the Getaway with McQ the other day on one of the movie channels. Its a little dated but still a great movie and superior to the remake.

I always quote the helocopter scene, ..”110, 120, 130 ... He’s gone.”
