I didnt see you post a tread for this weekend so I hope you dont mind me starting one for this weekend. Im curious to know who here is listening to what and why:
Here are some of my favorites:
Paolo Nutini - New Shoes - cause it makes be feeling like buying some new shoes and going out dancing with my friends :),

Rush Freewill. Is it me or is Geddy Lee getting better looking as he gets older. Maybe its just because Im older too. Maybe its the glasses and the soul patch or the fact he is still a guitar god and this band makes such great music. Best concert Ive ever been to was Rush. If you chose not to decide, you have still made a choice - I will choice a path thats clear, I will choose Freewill.

I didnt think I liked country music until I found Nickel Creek and the Smoothie Song and how cool, young, hip and musical Country could be:.

Then I discovered Little Big Town. They remind me of Fleetwood Mac and back in the day (with just a little more twang):

And speaking of Fleetwood Mac, my favorite song by Stevie Nicks: I know I could have loved you but you would not let me. Youll never get away from the sound of woman that loved you.

I love Evanessance. Amy Lee has such an amazing voice:

Ben Harper Diamonds on the Inside: She made herself a bed of nails and shes planning on putting it to use, cause she had diamonds on the inside;

I don't love XTC but that is a great song!!
And here is World Party.
A band I'm not all that crazy about, but love this song.
You know me to well! I like the Cure LOL
I love Mayor of Simpleton...great “Avengers” video too!
You’re right, I loved it! What a poet she is.
Music is interesting. It’s almost like a sense that can bring back memories like an odor.
Procol Harum - Whiter shade of pale brings back memories of my very early childhood. I can remember riding in the back seat with my little sister singing along with the song even before she really spoke.

I like "Ruby" too, and hope it's a big hit for the Kaiser Chiefs.
Thanks for the thread. If you or RunningWolf start a ping list,I would love to be added.
Maybe we both will. From my music video of last weekend I had two pinglist requests, you would make it three and I can manage that :^)

I do remember reading that Elvis got the idea of jumpsuits from W. Cochran but I couldn't prove it.
A ping list would be great---how do I get on?
ALL--thanks from the Budman too!
LOL x3!!!
I really know what you mean. I remember being, probably about three and suddenly belting out the Tom Jones song Whats New Pussy Cat. My mother was somewhat horrified but for me at that age it was just a nice song about a cat and I liked cats. I used to hang out the window of our third floor walkup brownstone apartment, trying to get the neighbors cat to come up the fire escape so I could pet him and that song always reminds me of that particular time and place and that orange tabby. I hear that song and I suddenly remember that dingy apartment, the smell of my mothers meatloaf in the oven, the sound of the Honey Mooners on the black and white TV and I can still remember the sweet spring air, the fire escape and I can still hear that cat meowing, what he looked like and how soft he felt, I can still hear him purring under my hand.
Its amazing how certain songs make such impressions on us even at such a young age even if we interpret it differently from what the musician intended. Music is really is the soundtrack of our lives. Some songs make us smile, some songs make us laugh, some songs make us remember loves found and loves lost, and some make us feel melancholy, but music, whether its classical, jazz, alternative, rock, metal, Latin, reggae, some music has a way of touching something deep in our hearts.
It was a fun thread. Add me to the ping list please. Thanks for the fun!!
Great thread! I am hooked on You Tube and have discovered some great old videos there, as well as some awesome talent that is wonderfully new, to me.
Ever see KT Tunstall perform live? You may recognize her music from the movie, The Devil Wears Prada...”Suddenly I See”, but her talent lies in her live shows, where she does something I call ‘acoustic looping’....here are a few of my favorites:
Big Black Horse in a Cherry Tree (SOLO)

I Want You Back (SOLO)

Suddenly I See (Full Band, KT on Guitar AND Drums)

Enjoy!
Wow...that was a great version of Tangled Up in Blue! And it’s also the first time I’ve seen her boyfriend play drums with maraccas, lol.
Speaking of the Stooges...I know they were nominated for the R&R HOF...did they make it in?
