The Primary Election Campaign season is now upon us. I ask you to join me in prayer that the right and conservative persons stand up, get noticed, and get elected. I ask you to join me in daily prayer that no deceits of the enemy blind us, that all persons who try to deceive us about the right and good be shown for what they are, and that we can all come together to do what we need for our nation in harmony, clarity and with the blessing of God.
Some quotes to consider:
If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honour of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation. Samuel Adams, letter to Elbridge Gerry, November 27, 1780
When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God,
he dawns on them like the morning light,
like the sun shining forth upon a cloudless morning,
like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth.
But godless men are all like thorns that are thrown away;
for they cannot be taken with the hand;
but the man who touches them arms himself with iron and the shaft of a spear,
and they are utterly consumed with fire.
2 Samuel 23: 4,6-7 RSV
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." -- Abraham Lincoln
I have also seen this example of wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great to me. There was a little city with few men in it; and a great king came against it and besieged it, building great siegeworks against it. But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man.
But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heeded. The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 RSV
It is necessary for every American, with becoming energy to endeavor to stop the dissemination of principles evidently destructive of the cause for which they have bled. It must be the combined virtue of the rulers and of the people to do this, and to rescue and save their civil and religious rights from the outstretched arm of tyranny, which may appear under any mode or form of government.
Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.
Amen.
SCOTS, what hae wi’ Wallace bled,
Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,
Welcome to your gory bed,
Or to victorie!
Now’s the day, and now’s the hour;
See the front o’ battle lour;
See approach proud Edward’s power —
Chains and slaverie!
Wha will be a traitor knave?
Wha can fill a coward’s grave?
Wha sae base as be a slave?
Let him turn and flee!
Wha, for Scotland’s King and Law,
Freedom’s sword will strongly draw,
Free-man stand, or Free-man fa’,
Let him on wi’ me!
By Oppression’s woes and pains!
By your sons in servile chains!
We sill drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be free!
Lay the proud Usurpers low!
Tyrants fall in every foe!
Liberty’s in every blow!
Let us do or die!
~Robert Burns, madman with a fountain pen
Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Hebrews 12: 12-13, RSV
Lord, in the task before us,
We ask your blessing.
Lord give us strength.
Lord, in the task before us,
We ask your wisdom.
Lord, enlighten our minds.
Lord, in the task before us,
We ask you guidance.
Lord, make clear our ways.
Give us who love you the heart and determination to do the right thing this election cycle, lifting up those who need your light, standing up when called to aid, and finding the right leader amongst all the choices, dark and light. For your name, for your glory, for your truth! With your help, O Lord, may we have the determination to make our land the shining city on the hill, beacon of what you would have a nation to be.
In the name of Jesus, I ask this of you, O Father!
Amen.
Amen.

Morning bump with morning prayers,
8mm
Thanks for letting me know about this thread.
Bump for later reading and praying.
Dear Knitting,
Thank you so much for this thread. Surely the Lord has ordered you to do this. Yeserday I went to our church to pray b/c of Nat’l day of Prayer and was very reminded of the necessity of the man of God’s choosing being at the helm of state in these troubled times.
Now I join you in prayer:
Most gracious Heavenly Father,
Please forgive us, Your people, for our sins. Our selfishness. Our greed and hardness of heart. Blessed Holy Sprit, help us to turn toward You and to seek Your Face for in this our land shall be healed. In these times of trouble and division, we beseach You grant us a president with a heart to do Your Will. A president who will honor You and the office to which he shall swear. And, Father, help us to be a people worthy of such a leader.
In Christ Jesus matchless Name,
Amen.
Freind, kindly add me to your ping list.
Regards, Kate

Praying for the triumph of conservatism in a sea of evils, particularly the evil of abortion in this country. God bless the U.S.A.!

Thanks for the ping. I’ve been praying for Duncan Hunter and his family. One prayer has already been answered, that his son would return from Iraq. God is faithful.

I haven't read all this yet, but looks like might be good reading.
Prayers for Fred and our blessed country!
Definitely praying with you all.
Thank you for this thread.
I never prayed harder than during the 2004 election campaign. 2008 promises to need our prayers even more.
“Father, please forgive us for our misdeeds and inability to learn from our sins. We surrender to you today and ask you to allow Fred Thompson to win the SC primary and go on to nurse this nation back to health in your name, Amen.”
Thank you, and Amen!
