The Sox and Yankees are resuming their long standing rivalry with and a mix of old and new faces. The Sox have upgraded their team with additions of JD Drew, Julio Lugo and Dice-K. The Yankees return with changes to the starting rotation and the subtraction of Gary Sheffield. Both teams figure to compete deep into the season.
For two states without much to brag about with respect to their elected officials,
Chucky and Hidabeast vs the Flip Flopping Gigalo and the Swimmer
or
The Spitter vs Coupe Deval
Here's to another season of Yankees vs Red Sox on FR!
I'm sure you meant to say that they are playing for the right to meet the Mets in October, because any meetings the Tigers may have with other teams in October will be nowhere but on the golf course!! ;-)
Game On!
Sox got the hot pitching (Shilling, Beckett, Dice-K and Pap).
The MFY have the hot bats (Jeter’s GF has TEN (10!) HRs)
But we all know, good pitching will beat good hitting every time.
Tonight we have Shilling vs Pettitte in HD
Saturday Beckette vs. Karsten (who? Columbus standout?) in HD
Sunday Matsuzaka vs Wright in HD
And I gots the HDs (Sony XBR2 40” LCD)
WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO SOX!!! (Red, that is!)

Sweet
Yeah, Great stuff.... that was last century.
No worries. They'll be tacking on 2007 in six months or so (provided a starting pitcher manages to stay off of the DL for more than a week...)
6 since the age of free agency. Heck, 6 in over 45 years. I will give them the 4 in 5 years but the run they made in the 1920s through thr early 60’s was a simply a different era and set of circumstances.
The Yankees simply do not have the pitching to win a world series. If they have learned nothing else in the past several years it is that pitching makes the difference.
It was so cold in the right field roof seats last Saturday that two of those chemical hand-warmers did not even keep me warm and they ran out of hot beverages. For the Fenway fans sake, I hope the weather is much better this weekend.
I will be plenty warm watching NESN in Virginia this weekend and I will not be enjoying any hot beverages.
Here we go again...
70s and 80s here in VA this weekend.
What is the latest on Pavano... the Sox and Yankees were falling over each in a bidding war for his sorry services.
Go Sox!!!!
Pavano's main service to the Yankees is providing a warm welcome to anyone placed on the DL. It'll be a good season, but this team probably can't win it all. The offense and the pen are as strong as one could hope for, but the starters are going to be a problem.
Arm tightness problems....
He hit the lottery with this team. (Of course Matt Clemment made out okay here) Pavano should go back to the NL and get another contract before retiring with having made over $60 million playing baseball.
The salary structure is sheer insanity. Imagine...60 million for a career that had one good year.
UGH, I hope I never see that bum Alec Baldwin at Fenway! Isn’t he a Yankee fan?
GO RED SOX!!!
Yes, that would be my vote.
