With the news changing daily about the tainted pet food, Arizona Carolyn and I are starting a ping list to be published on her profile page. Please let us know if you would like to be included. I will not be able to respond until later today and over the weekend.
Thank you! I’ve got him on fluids, vitamins and syringe feeding to keep his weight up. He’s gotten a lot better—I’m just giving him a little support now. For a while when he was “crashing” he wouldn’t eat dry food at all and I had to try different foods. He’s back to eating it now, but I give them canned as well. I’ve been trying several and solid gold was one of them that they liked.
So glad to hear he’s getting better!
I knew very little about pet nutrition and learned so much when my golden/brittany got cancer several years ago. I was horrified when I started investigating what was in most commercial dog food; I thought, the more you spent, the better the food. Not necessarily so! The cat, as I mentioned, now gets the Katz-N-Flocken, and the dog gets the Solid Gold Wolf King (with Bison and Salmon Meal).
Solid Gold’s website states they do not use gluten meal of any kind in their products, so I think we’re safe (crossing fingers).
It was I mom. who saw her. We were eating breakfast at a Bagel place at the corner of 7th and 57th and she and her assistant came walking right past our window on 57th street.
I’m trying to be better and not hijack all the food threads (sitting on fingers ~LOL~) but a lot of people don’t realize that cats have such a high meat requirement and get a lot of moisture out of the meat — when they eat dry kibble their water requirements go through the roof...
BTW, thanks for the ping... you know I want to be a part of this....
This is “yours” I just got you started. The list I have so far is in your freepmail.
Your knowledge is so valuable!
Thanks for letting me know—it’s been driving me crazy trying to remember who it was!
Hmmm, I didn’t get freepmail..
Why don’t we put it on my Freeper page (or whatever it’s called) than way you will know where to find it in a pinch an I can, too....
I’d be much obliged if you would add me to your list.
Some of our Dog Adventures were outlined here:

The Rainbow Bridge - Hugs and Prayers for Backhoe by Calpernia
...and we have a new puppy now.
I just reread the story of The Rainbow Bridge. Man when I get there, I’m going to be up to my neck in Labradors.
What a beautiful tribute thread for beautiful Taffy.
I see Taffy standing tall and proud again, unbent by age, on the deck of the Hatteras, sailing with my Mom and Dad into the sunrise. May we all meet again, in a better World than this one...
...and Cole, the canine Circular Saw, is barking again- gotta run!
please include me.
good to hear, my pups eat their dry dog food.
Please add me to the ping list. Thanks!
Uh oh....corn gluten’s listed in my Purina Dietetic Management. Just opened a bag a couple of weeks ago. So far, so good.
Please add me.
Thanks.
I will admit that the dry food scares me a lot. I'm like Arizona Carolyn, sitting on my fingers about the dry foods so I thought I would supply some info for anyone who might be interested....
This is a list of canned Fancy Feast flavors that have no wheat gluton or rice in them and are safe so far:

I thought I would explain why I act so crazy about dry food. According to Dr. Lisa Pierson, DVM...The three key negative issues associated with dry food are:
1) type of protein - too high in plant-based versus animal-based proteins
2) carbohydrate load is too high
3) water content is too low
excellent site for feline nutrition
This a link to Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins feline diabetic forum. She is the vet that testified in front of Durbin and is linked to on the itchmo site. She is happy to answer any questions on feline nutrition and pops on the forum a few times a day.
Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins, DVM JD
I apologize as I don't mean to hijack the thread or stray from the topic but since people are having to change what they are feeding their cats these sites have great info on safe nutrition.
Please put me on too!
Please include me on your ping list. Thank you.
Please include me on the list! Thanks!
