LAKEWOOD, Wash. - A pit bull viciously attacked a woman and her two dogs, killing one of the dogs and badly injuring the other.
Cynthia Greear says a neighbor's pit bull mix got loose while she was walking her dogs and viciously attacked. The male greyhound named 'Jet' barely survived.
"Now he's by himself again, but we're gonna get him through it. He's a strong boy," she said. "His neck is torn from the back of his ear all the way down to the base of his neck."
Greear's other greyhound, Angel, didn't survive. Witnesses say she was attacked repeatedly, chased down and literally ripped apart.
"She died a horrible death from what I understand. I don't even know all the details, but it had to have been horrific," Greear said.
Neighbor Mark Smurrow says he tried to intervene.
"I came running through here because I heard a lady with two dogs screaming down here for help," he said.
Smurrow says he tried to pull the pit bull off of the greyhounds and held on to the dog as long as he could, but the dog kept attacking even after other neighbors jumped in to help.
"We were doing everything we could. Hitting it with shovels, hitting it with two by fours," he said. "I punched it, kicked it, did everything I could to try and get this pit bull off of these greyhounds while it was tearing up the greyhounds."
Witnesses say Angel ran off down the street in terror with the pit bull following right behind her. A couple hours later, neighbors found Angel alive, but she died a short time later. A nearby veterinary hospital could not save her.
"I won't let'em tell me (the details), I don't want to know. I already have nightmares about her looking back at me," Greear said.
The owner of the pit bull is taking full responsibility for the attack, but says the dog has never before shown such a display of aggression. The owner has signed over the animal to Animal Control and has also volunteered to reimburse Greear for her veterinary bill.
What's left to be said? Defend these dogs all you want, but this is so often heard after the attack.
These dogs are sharks that breathe air, live on the land and have four legs. I hate these dogs. I had a neighbor who had a miniature Doberman and two pit bulls attacked it. It had to be put down because of her injuries and her owner was attacked also. My husband was the one who fought the dogs off.
I hate these dogs. They should all be put to death.
Another recent pitbull story: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1815389/posts
“They’re just all muscle,” Sergeant Minster said. “It just goes to show how dangerous those dogs are.”
Agreed. Just another reason for CCW...makes a pit bull “right” as the smell of a fresh round hits it’s target, and a shell casing hits the deck.
I feel really bad for this poor woman. I would be devastated if this had happened to my dogs. My heart goes out to her, and I hope she is able to, at some point, distance herself from the horrible visions she must have in her head now. I hope her other dog recovers, as well.
A pitbull chases down a greyhound and catches it?
I thought those dogs were fast.
I’ll bet that pitbull cannot outrun a bullet.
On another note. That guy in Vagas ~ that lion team ~ whatshisname. He thought his lions were tame because he RAISED them right.
Lord have mercy! It doesn't say what caliber handguns, nor what type of shot, but still, 8 freaking rounds to stop that dog?!! Sounds like stopping one of these dogs once they switch into their kill mode is like trying to stop an addict high on PCP or crack.
I can attest to that. I visited my friend yesterday and he has an older female Pit. She is about 10-11 years old. very sweet dog now, but in her day, from what he says, she wouldn't let anyone within 100' of the house. I reluctantly decided to pet her and was amazed at how solid she was. She is about 60lbs and not a bit of fat on her....solid as a rock. I couldn't imagine having her come at me with those teeth.
If you think so. I don’t agree, though.
1. "Ethnic" thugs.
2. Cult dog breeders.
The former supports the latter.
