Judging by the way he talked about these women in court, I’m inclined to give their story the benefit of the doubt, not his. I don’t care if they are lesbians, you just don’t talk about them the way this guy does.

Considering what they did to him, I’d say he sounds restrained. As to his descriptions of them, I would assume that he does not know their names and, therefore, must describe them by appearance.
I am inclined to believe that this guy did not intentionally start this. Most men would not take on a fight with 6 normal women, let alone this group.
