How nice! I may have to go dinnerless. My stupid hand rash is back again, since 2 days ago after some nerve-wracking bad news.
That means I can’t cook, because I have this cream all over my hands. Happened at Christmas, too - and my wonderful trusty microwave of 25 years died on me. I can’t get another one because of the situation I’m in.
So, I’m mad because I can’t have my rack of lamb as usual and even madder because I can’t make my Easter vichyssoise, my favorite thing.
I have these wonderful little Easter egg cups, made just for the right amount of cold vichyssoise for a serving, with a little fresh cream and chives floating on top. But with my hands like this, and also being afraid of leeks, since the spinach thing this past year - and how much dirt is in the leeks - I’ll have to do without. *waaahhh*
Frightened myself when I went to look for something to make a sandwich. I saw two cartons of eggs just sitting out on my kitchen stepstool seat. Aacck!
I thought “what in the world have I done, leaving the eggs out?” Rushed to put them back in the fridge, thankfully opening to see if they were spoiled ... nope, they were some of my cascarones (confetti eggs) I still had from last year!
Guess I got them out when I took my Easter decorations out to put them up - and forgot to put the cascarones out on the egg plates, lol! Whew!
Rte66, sorry to hear about your hand rash. A few years ago I developed a hand problem where my hands dried out and cracked open as if someone had cut them with a knife. Spent mega bucks with a dermatologist, used various creams, took Prednisone, and slept with gloves on, and it would get better and then flare up again. At the time, my mother was quite elderly and I was having to make 700 mile trips frequently to check on her, and my brother's health was failing and he couldn't help. They both died a little over a year apart, and after I settled my mom's estate with my brother's family etc., my hands cleared up. I did not think about stress being my problem until later when my hands cleared up, and I realized the problem had started when all the pressure was put on me to take care of everything.
I wonder if the doctor could give you something to calm your nerves if it would help. Surely there is some medication that's not habit forming or mind altering that could help folks who have reactions to stress. Hope your hands get better soon...I know how miserable and handicapped you feel!
Hope you are feeling better in the morning.... and have a good Easter Sunday. You are too smart to have all these health issues, we definitely need to work on you.
Hi Rte66,
It makes me sad that you can’t have your usual Easter “treats”! :(
We don’t usually have lamb or vichyssoise for Easter, bc I am in the South, but if there is ANY chance you are nearby, I would be happy to bring you something special for Easter!! PM me if you are near the AL/FL Gulf Coast, OK?!
Happy Easter!
Kim
Don't feel bad, I just got out of the hospital. I knew someone who got a rash like that every time she got upset.
I was ready to be discharged this afternoon, so my bf ate my tray of food. I took the can of Boost with me. I nibbled, and must say it was the only decent thing they cooked, besides the split pea soup for lunch.
What does your doctor say about this? You may need something for the holidays. Doesn't it suck when you end up loathing the things that used to be fun? My son decided to hang out with his friends, and didn't call me(had the ph and rm#), or even my bf to find out how I was doing.
((((hugs))))! the Easter season is a time of renewal. Don't let the b@stards get you down :)
That vichyssoise sounds darn good.
