A Rudy booster is in no position to challenge the conservative bona fides of Fred, given that the only areas where Fred is possibly a bit to the left (abortion, CFR) are the areas where Rudy is much, much further to the left.
One has no credibility when they rip an opposing candidate's character or position on the issues while ignoring the same flawed character or stances on the issues in one's own candidates.
I understand where you are coming from and I empathize. But the only thing we can really control is our own vote.
And if we are faced with a choice between rudy and hillary, we have only two real choices in this de facto 2-party system of ours.
It is an illusion to think there is any other option.
So my bottom-line point is this: Of course you will do whatever you must. But all I ask is that you do it with your eyes open. That you recognize that by voting 3rd party or sitting it out, you are helping to elect hillary clinton.
Hey! In the end, you may decide that she is the lessor of 2 evils. But at least you will have made a decision informed by reason as well as ethics.
In the end I believe they are equal evils.
lesser
I understand. But if you follow my argument, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, you will effectively be voting for one of them.
If you do anything but vote R, you will effectively be voting D.
So either you decide which it will be, R or D, or you delude yourself into believing you have a third option, in which case you will be voting for the D.
Your arguments are not persuasive. By nominating a liberal to the Republican ticket, the GOP is abandoning me and does not deserve my support. In effect, the Republican party will shoot itself in the foot, and that is not my fault, but a fault of both the RNC and the country as a whole moving to the left.
I want no part of it, and reject the blame that is being laid at my feet when that blame lies at the feet of those who run the RNC, IMO.
When given the choice of liberal A and liberal B, I choose none of the above as either being elected makes no difference to me.
Thanks for your post, MIA. I can’t imagine Fred T. running while his best buddy, John McCain is in there. However, just heard on Rush that McCain may be having problems. Maybe they’re working a deal.... McCain drops out... and F.T. gets in.
I’m still left with the impression that he’s not tough enough to deal with our enemies. - and that enemy includes Hillary the unAmerican beast. Perhaps F.T. would be a good V.P. with Rudy?
You’re welcome, Gracey :)
Excellent point about McCain.
rudy-fred crossed my mind, too. could be a strong ticket
clinton rape and predation, clinton willful terrorism failure, clinton monstrous abuse of power, make hillary clinton unfit to be your babysitter, never mind your president.
You aren’t arguing, are you, that Giuliani has committed these crimes and abuses?
Fine. But understand that by doing so, you are helping to elect the D.
P.S.
It is disingenuous to call Giuliani a liberal.
Yes, he is socially liberal in most ways (but not all-recall the Bklyn museum-Jesus imbroglio); but he is fiscally conservative. he is conservative on fighting crime. (And he has been highly successful in both areas. It’s one thing to have a certain ideological bent. It is quite another to successfully implement it.)
But perhaps most important of all, on prosecuting the war on terror he is conservative. And he will protect the constitution from activist judges. That is to say, on the crucial issues of our time, Giuliani is conservative. What more could you want?
You can attempt to appeal to anyone you please with your most crucial issues of our time beliefs, but they will never sway me, and the ‘scare tactics’ concerning ‘helping’ a dim get elected does not and never will sway me when the Republican nominee could just as easily win the dimocrat nomination.
My issues revolve around fundamental rights that I worry about more than the WOT. Take away those rights and I have no reason to fight for this country any longer, and I’m a veteran who believes deeply in those rights and protecting this country.
As it is, I feel betrayed by the right just for having RINO Rudy in the party and on the primary ballot. It’s that principle thing again.
At the momemt who is better at prosecuting criminals, defending our country against Islamofacists, reducing taxes, etc, etc. Check his record. All those “liberal” things are minor as he has little control. Go after DEMOCRATS. Let’s not eat our own. I’ll be voting for ANYONE who is the Republican nominee and that person will FAR SURPASS a Marxist/Socialist Clintonista/Obama Osama Hussein.

A liberal Republican is just as bad as a dim liberal. Once again, I will not vote for a liberal simply because he has an (R) in front of his name.
Those liberal things may be minor in your opinion, but I certainly do not share that opinion.
He may be your own, but he’s certainly not my own. Both RINO Rudy and HRC are disasters for our country and I will not vote for either. They’re all yours.
Thanks.
I’ll count you a one who will sit out this election, thereby giving Hillary 1/2 vote. There is no pure, righteous candidate - they all have faults. I doube you know much about Rudy except his having fun with a dress outfit.
No problem. As Rudy stated, there are a few people out there that will not vote for him.
What you don’t acknowledge is the apathy that will occur with the ‘get out the vote’ hard right which will insure your worst nightmare gets put into the White House due to the fact that more votes will be lost on the right than you can gain from the left and center, IMO. The election in 04 was so close I would think most Republicans would figure this out for themselves, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
I’m hoping Mr. Thompson will enter the race so I’ll have someone to vote for that reflects my beliefs and can win the election. Something tells me that your faction will still not care and are so fanatically determined to get a liberal nominated to the Republican ticket that you will continue to support the worst possible candidate for the Republican ticket, which is RINO Rudy.
Reading between the lines, perhaps we can agree on this:
I believe the root cause of the problem has less to do with ideology than with entrenched power. We won’t solve the problems in DC unless and until we purge it of the professional pols, a self-selected subgroup that is mediocre, power-obsessed and corrupt or corruptible by definition, and replace them with citizen politicians, people of exceptional achievement, talent and character who will lend their expertise for a term or two and then return to their day jobs. (In the meantime, we must make sure defective, disloyal and dangerous demagogues like the clinton don’t capture the White House.)
As for our fundamental rights, of course we must preserve them. But we cannot always stay in the system to save the system, (a feat tantamount to Lady Liberty lifting herself up by her own bootstraps). If we don’t win the WOT, the disposition of our fundamental rights will be made for us. That is to say, the islamofascist terrorists will make sure we don’t have them.
P.S. I am not trying to ‘scare’ you. (You don’t strike me as someone who is easily frightened. ;) And besides, that is not my style. I try to appeal to reason.) I am simply trying to describe reality.
I am very grateful for your service. Thank you.
