UNABLE to come to terms with the death of their pet dog, a childless couple in southern India hanged themselves. The bodies of 67-year-old retired soldier C.N. Madanraj and his wife, Tarabai, 63, were found yesterday in their home in a suburb of Hyderabad.
Police said the childless couple had held a burial ceremony for their dog of 13 years, called Puppy, and hosted a feast for friends before hanging themselves in their bedroom.
"The couple described the grief over their pet dog in the suicide note they left on March 29," said police inspector V. Anantaiah.

I've always valued my dogs far more than many people I know. Many of the responses here prove why.
The good news. They both came back as Whataburgers.
Dog gonnit!
True but I have actually heard that before.
I think the funniest event was walking on the beach full of "real" senior citizens and calling out come on Yol/ya'll and everyone turning around to see if they should "come along" and by the third time that day getting what the he(( is wrong with that woman stares so I had to yell out "it is the Dogs name" and then a few chuckles.
Boy I went home and told my son you know how stupid......he just laughed.
Oh, well.
LMAO
1. George Bush relaxes the standards on wheat importation into the US
2. An American company imports the tainted wheat and exports it at a profit to a Canadian dogfood company
3. The Candadian dogfood company uses the tainted wheat in the manufacture of their food which is then exported to India
4. The couple buys the fiid feeds thei dog, and the dog dies.
5. Severely grieved over the loss of their pet the couple decide to take their own lives rather than live on without "Puppy"...
Damn that George Bush!
Idiotic selfish statements LIKE YOURS are WHY there are comments like what you find on this thread.
Pets ARE NOT more VALUABLE than humans.
No his name was Puppy.
I never had a dog cut and run.
There are cases of pets who just sort of "give up" on life after their human dies, sometimes to the point where their health goes into a (literal) death spiral.
They named their dog, "Puppy". Not too into considering options, I guess...
Pets often grieve themselves to death over the loss of the human in their lives.
But that hurt doesn't last as long.
When I was about 12, we had a black cocker spaniel named "Blackie". He would dig out and roam around the neighborhood causing mischief, that I would usually have to clean up, garbage cans, messed up flower beds, etc. (small town). Being of that "South Park" age and just learning to use words you are not supposed to let your parents know you know, I was once again spending a precious Saturday afternoon looking for the dog, I didn't care much for. I spied him about a mile from the house and immediately yelled, "Blackie, you sorry black bastard! You better get your butt back home!" Just then I noticed that there was a group of black teenagers coming up the sidewalk..............
Quick question...Did you used to get beat up in school alot?
They use to say that about girlfriends (coming from a guys perspective) and I can attest to the fact it works. As far as pets, and once again I speak from experience, wait a few months before getting another ... it gives you time to time to get past the mourning stage and gives you a fresh new outlook when you get your new pet.
That depends on who the person is. My cat is more valuable than Hillary, Teddy, Mcaulife, Carville....can't stop....Forehead, Rosie, Sheehan......
Ummm, its a dog... nevermind.
